More p!ss poor customer service in Qatar

I have 2 parcels coming from USA via Aramex. Checking online, I can see they are now in Dubai.

I sent a mail to Customer Service asking 2 very simple questions:
1. How long does it normally take for a parcel to get from Dubai to Qatar.
2. Can you give me a map or directions to your collection point.

Aramex Reply: "What's your tracking number"!
Since when do they need a tracking number to answer either of those questions!?!?!?

Spleen now vented :O)

Some items takes longer to clear, she asked you for your tracking number because that's how they find out all the details about your item.

Well i can understand if they asked u for your tracking number to check when the parcel will be dispatched from Dubai. Just coz u know its in dubai doesnt mean its going to come any sooner, i mean theres a dispatching process, clearance etc. so i guess asking for ur tracking number to see the details of ur parcel is quite valid.

About asking for direction for their collection point well if your parcel is gonna come in another week and if they tell u how to get there NOW u might forget it and call them up after a week to ask them again :p so again tracking number very bery important ;)

just give them your tracking number, man.. what's wrong with that? and what it has to do with the "poor service"? actually, in your initial e-mail you should have mentioned your traking number, it would be a good style of asking the question!

asking you your tracking number means poor service? Next time, they ask your name, its poor service again? I don't necessary disagree but there is a missing part in your story? Like Tallg said, maybe all inquiries is recorded thru the tracking number, maybe? But it doesn't mean poor service. Maybe you should have called their manager and complain about the question. As many suggested, every time you encountered poor service, report to management for correction. Aramex is a big company and their dealing everyday is not that small, com'on Baldrick, not every question means poor service?

The only best thing about here is that almost every thing and every where you go you have ticket. Appart from this Customer Service is not part of the job discription here, the poor old employee is never trained to deal with customers.. So here the CUSTOMER is always wromng unless he is .......

They probably have to log all enquiries against a tracking number, as a way of monitoring all the calls or something similar.

i emailed HSBC Qatar to enquire about something, back when i was still in my country.

takes them about 1 week to reply, to ask me to call them directly, and yes previously i've already inform them that i'm not in qatar.

what's the point of having email and internet, if at the end you have to call??

Someone told me that living here demanded and extra dose of patience...I didnt take it seriously. But is absolutely true.

Customer service, wait on a line for your turn, social manners... respecting your space... not really very known concepts here.

Last week, had to call security in the mall as a weirdo didnt stop following me around. freaky.

PS: and NEVER, ever... believe when they just answer some question with "ok" it doesnt mean a thing.
