Thoughts on your lives in Qatar appreciated...
Hello all, as a girl who shall be moving there in a few weeks, and who knows nobody there, could you give me some insights into your lives there and what you think of it.
I currently live in London, and have never been to Qatar before...my reason for relocation is purely career related.
Is it a nice place to live? Do you have lots to do? Is there a strong sense of community among the ex pats? Are the beaches nice? Are you pleased you moved there, or just making a living and looking forward to returning to your previous homes??
Anything that u can share with me regarding your experiences there will be very much appreciated.
Bring over lots of hobby material, you'll need it.
Also bring green things for wall hangings as everything is brown or reddish.
To live in any gulf country you have to be pretty pro active about your social life. There are a lot of ex pats here of many different nationalities and career movement tends to be a reason most of them came out here. As for things to do here - it isn't the liveliest of places, I also came from London and it took a while to adjust! But there are bars and restaurants and things going on. The nicest beaches tend to be linked to a hotel or club and membership to the clubs can be pretty pricey and have long wait lists too. But you can get day or weekend passes to them if you know someone who is a member. If you are willing to make the effort to get out and meet people there seems to be a lot going on - from boat trips to desert trips! Happy packing and travel safe - enjoy the cool of the UK as it is still pretty hot out here!!!
I'll second that question - am moving over soon for work.
The impression I get is that theres plenty to do but have to be pro-active and make it happen?
Am thinking (aside from earning a fat salary) that I want to learn to scuba dive, explore the gulf region a bit, play some golf and football and generally meet some new people. I hope anyway...
