Paradise found?

I've had a few messages from people asking about my experience buying property in Malaysia so I thought some other expats who are looking for a place to invest or even retire in SE Asia might find this interesting.

My wife and I were looking for a place to invest and possibly settle down one day in the region. Singapore appealed but too pricey for us. We hadn't given much consideration to Malaysia but after visiting KL earlier this year our minds were made up. We've since bought a very nice apartment in an upscale complex just outside KL central.

If some of the following are on your nice-to-have list, it might be worth considering Malaysia:

* Warm, friendly people
* Good choice of affordable property (foreigners can buy)
* Good infrastructure
* Warm weather all year round
* Fantastic shopping & low prices
* Tropical beaches & rain forests
* Within easy reach of Thailand & Singapore
* Low cost airline (Air Asia) serving many regional locations & KLIA is a hub to the rest of the world
* Excellent (and cheap) food
* Retirement scheme for non-Malaysians
* Large expat communities & English spoken widely

If anyone is interested in the property market in Malaysia, I know a really good agent and will be pleased to pass on their coordinates.

The agent we used is a Mr. Sum Wai Meng (Sum)

He can be best reached via his mobile (+603-7880-5711) and e-mail waimengsum88/-a-t-/gmail.com.

I found him very personable and helpful. If you get as far as needing to speak to a good lawyer/solicitor, I can provide their contact details as well.

Lol about the commission of advertising. You will have to contact the QL owner about that. I received stack of stickers from QLSG group manager (DaRuDe) and i just passing it around to people i know. Since i met you and your wife through this site, i passed in on to her too :) You should ask her to join on QL too ... lol

From what i heard ... there will be some prize coming up for QL'ers car with QL sticker displayed.

So guys ... if you already have your sticker quickly stick it to you car :) You never knows ...

Thank you for posting the Malaysian contact ... , my husband keen with the idea retiring in Malaysia. He will defenitely talk to you next time he see you :)

Hi Novita77

Good idea - wasn't expecting so many responses. Seems to have struck a chord.

Got the car stickers - now proudly displayed. Where do I collect the commission for the advertising?

rolling stones why dont you just edit your post and put the contact info on your thread? that save the hassle for your replying/sending every PM to the people who ask.

PS : Nice to see you back posting again, and did your wife passing the car stickers to you :)

the topic here is about buying property for retirement...just forget about the politics. Unlike in pakistan even those not involve in politics will be affected by bombings!!!
