House rent increase

Hi,

I am staying in a flat for last 6 Years. Last four years I was having rent agreement contract copy. But two years back owner raised the flat rent more than 50% and we agreed made contract for two years and gave Cheque for two years, he received the cheque after that he didn’t give the contract copy. Now the contract is going to finish. And again he raised the rent more than 50% from present rent. Any one can advise me whether I can go to court, since I am not holding last two years contract (owner didn’t give), But I paid house rent by cheque only. Is bank statement is enough instead of contract copy to proceed in court. Can any one advise me regarding this issue?

Thanks
Rohith

Seems to me that they only work for a certain class of people, not just in one country but all countries. I am quite positive that if the landlord flashes the right amount of dough around to the right person that this man has no hope of hell getting his money back nor keeping his apartment. Now, with that being said if he had dough himself to flash to the right person he may be able to at least keep his place.

I am always excited to go to sleep! In anticipation of the new experience I will find awaiting me.

On the other hand there is this song "I fought the law and the law won". Hmm?

Laws are for the protection of the people. Do you know why countries have a constitution? To protect the people from the governments!

In which country do you live? In Qatar this is not possible. They have laws here!

You can go to court, the checked cashed are proof enough of the increase. "more than 50%" is illegal.
