Books banned in Qatar

Recently I ordered some books from Amazon and since I did not get them for some time inquired from DHL. They informed me that the books are taken under the custody of the Ministry of Information. Would appreciate if someone tells me what should be done.

This is nothing new...I've had several books taken from packages here over the years, some they didn't even have the decency to tell me about, until I made a fuss and THEN they said, yes we removed a book from your box. Funny -- where I come from, taking things from people without telling them is called STEALING. One book was called "Why I am not a Muslim" -- they made me send it back outside the country (and I promptly brought it back with me in my luggage on my next trip). Others were paperback airplane reads with "questionable" cover illustrations. One was a murder mystery with a Star of David on it, so I guess they thought it was a Zionist infidel manual or something...LOL! Ridiculous really -- you can see naked bits on TV every night, but you can't read about why someone would choose to leave their faith, and you can't have ANY display of the 6 pointed star symbol...

Ramadan hours will probably mean that unless you can get to the MOI by mid-morning, you will need to wait until after Eid. There are different MOI/censorship offices around town for various things (books one place, pharmaceuticals another) so ask DHL which building you need to go to. They should provide a location and office number for you.

Sometimes it takes time for books/dvds and vidoes to be inspected.Last year I had an order that took 3 months to come through.BTW it's always slow in Ramadan and around any holiday time.

They probably suspect that you'll start a revolution. based on the titles of the books, including the Jerusalem (you know they hate Jews, right?). that could've been the reason why your book went to the Ministry.

just my 2 cents.
