yeah i know what you mean Brit. I am hopeless when it comes into cooking ... Have to plan alot of things ahead during ramadhan.

tallg ... about your second paragraph on your last post. I dont think there is a written law so far ... but i keep hearing so and so being thrown to jail because he/she got caught eating/drinking in the public. I still take my drink and some snacks in the car ( i spend alot of hours on the road during school days) and consume them without looking obvious.

Are the restaurants & cafes etc actually ordered by the government to close during the day, or do they just do it cos it makes financial sense

Similarly, is there an actual law or something that says you're not allowed to eat, drink, smoke etc in public during day light hours of Ramadan, or is it just an assumed rule?

Take a packed lunch to work and find a quiet place to eat it! Non-muslims can eat, drink and smoke during Ramadan, just don't do it in public!

i think restaurants should stay open during ramadan but with their blinds shut or with tinted windows that customers cant be seen from outside.

I think he's "moaning" because he's frustrated that he can't get food anywhere and he's being forced to fast (unless he cooks something, which by reading his post, I doubt he knows how to cook lol). Last time in Ramadan when my mom went to a drive-thru they said they don't take orders during Ramadan, even though we weren't fasting and we were going to eat in our own home. :/

aside from the state rules, business-wise, they should really close.

You can take you own food in and eat it in a private place. It is just a sign of respect not to eat in public as it is their culture and there beliefs. But most places will allow you to take out.

There are restaurants who are cooking and where you can order food and have it delivered to your place of work.
