What're the chances that McCain will win?

Well, it seems everyone's on Obama...this election seems obvious who's gonna win. No competition?

I'm looking forward to her or for that mattger any of them actually making clear policy statements...

I think she'll polarize the country.. They'll either love her or hate her.. Shades of Dan Quayle..:o)

The news says that "The selection of Sarah Palin as John McCain’s running mate has electrified conservative activists"

By tapping the anti-abortion and pro-gun Alaska governor just ahead of his convention, which is set to start here Monday, McCain hasn’t just won approval from a skeptical Republican base — he’s ignited a wave of elation and emotion that has led some grass-roots activists to weep with joy.

Not only is the 44-year-old governor opposed to abortion rights — but she carried and gave birth to a child with Down syndrome earlier this year, a profound and powerful motivating force to both opponents of abortion rights and the parents and relatives of special needs children.

And not only is she a supporter of the right to bear arms — but she’s a lifetime member of the NRA and an avid hunter and fisherman whose gubernatorial office couch is adorned with a massive grizzly bear pelt.

“She’s lived it!” exulted Yoest. “It’s so satisfying as a conservative woman. When she walked out on that stage there was just this moment. It was really emotional for a lot of us.”

Well theexcitement has begun..

Some websites have started publishing what they say are nude photos of Sarah palin. They are allegedely from the days when she was a teenage beauty queen in her home state of Alaska.

All we need now are some photos of Obama in his native dress or undress..

like another poster said, even if obama wins he still has to deal with the chaos bush's administration created. And if it is McCain, expect some more crap for the rest of the world for another 4 years.

I think semantics will come into play again.. He'l probably move the troops out of cities and base some in the green zone to "support the Iraqis if needed"..

I don't think the Americans will leave Iraq entirely..

You actually think he'll be able to pull troops out of Iraq? I think he'll try and the chaos that will ensue will make things even worse.

I believe that both candidates realise that the American image has been tarnished and they need to address this..

Obama is talking the talk, but apart from pulling troops out of Iraq, I don't really see what other concrete steps he can take.. Too many self interests at play..

I thought Gore would win, I was wrong. I thought Kerry would win, I was wrong. I have no more faith in the American people. McCain will win.

Anyway I don't think it will matter, Obama's libel to get the states in as much trouble if not more by trying to undue the last 8 years then McCain will keeping the status quo.

...risk, BritExpat!

Those that would've voted for McCain will continue to do so regardless of his choice of VP, whether they like it or not!

...Unlike Obama!

McCain is taking a gamble and is going for the women and conservative voters.

She has very conservative views, is a supporter of new drilling and appeals to the evangelicals.

Ofcourse one major plus is that her husband works for British Petroleum :0)

By QT• 30 Aug 2008 13:36
QT

...she looked so shell-shocked herself at getting the VP nomination.

I think they are desparately clutching at straws now!

If they win, what happens if McCain dies of natural causes (which isn't a low possibility given the state of him), she is the one who will call all the shots.

Talk about no room for on-the-job training!

Obama said it best....90% of the time McCain voted pro Bush. 90% of the time, Bush was wrong.

May I ask what is so strong about, going to war and killing thousands of people, putting people in prison cause they are muslim or they look like terrorist? what is strong about taking jobs away from millions of americans and sending them overseas? what is so strong about not allowing the most basic health care to citizens in a country that is supposed to be the richest country on earth?

FYI! Obama did not put himself on a pedestal! The American people did.

I am always excited to go to sleep! In anticipation of the new experience I will find awaiting me.

As if that made any difference. Bush can't lead (not in the right direction) but he's had two terms.

Mathematically I believe it is 50%, no?

So far , Obama has had an easy ride. The public is fed up with George W and there is also the novelty factor.

From next week, the gloves will come off and allegations, accusations, innuendos will fly. This next few months is going to be very interesting..
