"swim like a current,stand like a rock"
dont reply... they are just stealing identities...
or... also use a fictitious email address in replying them just to get the bottomline of their purpose.

First sign is always @live.com or @yahoo.com. If it was legit it would be through @chevron_texaco.com

I immediately knew it was a scam. The initial email was sent from Holland, when it was the Signapore branch contacting me. Dah.
Then they asked me to get in contact with someone in the UK on a .live site Dah.
But this was the first time that I saw they were using a company like Texaco! So I wanted to put the word out about the latest scam.
Warn all those of you about it.

janeyjaney, it would seems they're already employing that it's a scam and only unaware people most often fall for that, that's why we should be cautious dealing with kind.
bad thing though, why people try to make advantage over those who they think are weak and easily abuse? it's kinda hard to accept, oh well much better wiser nowadays.
feel like dancing...
just ignore it.

If it's such a big company why do they always use e-mails domains from gmail or msn?? LOL

Because of the area, there is a lot of transient people all seeking similar things, ie jobs, opportunities etc, investment. I just remain very cautious with the emails I receive, if they have a link don't open straight away, especially if the email is from an unknown source, it may contain a "trojan" virus. Secondly when you think you may have been the target of someone scam, ignore the first invitation etc, ie if it sounds too good or dodgy. If they're genuine the thought is that they'll resend the offer, however if you must reply, simply ask some further questions ie if it is a job offer, ask about when and where they will pay you. (don't volunteer information), simply play along, sooner or later they're going to make some unfeasible demand in order to "CON" you, if may be they'll ask for the account details of your bank to set you up on the payroll, or they'll ask for you to pay a fee to administer the visa requirement.. don't fall for either as if the offers sound dodgy they probably are. If exposing a Con, don't threaten anything, simply advise them that you're aware that it is a con, and you'll be barring them from sending email traffic to your email address. They will continue of course 'the Scams" you must remain vigilant and don't offer any opening.

coz, we've encounter the same only that it was thru sms, but the similarity is that when the person gave an email address, it's the same "@live.com" and it's base (the company) as they said in UK, and when we verified the site, it's a common in there to use the site by fraudsters, hence when we encounter any emails from "@live.com" usually we just ignore it.

way of trying to get people to give out personal info, ignore and delete :)
