wallah, cannot decide where to go for about a week
...either Italy or Spain...
Any suggestions please?
If Italy, which cities to go to? what to see?
If Spain, what to visit, which towns, which areas?
Advantages and disadvantages of either destination?
Any input is highly appreciated...

Guys.. let us see valuable posts first, and later you can hijack it and tear to pieces...

Ok I will help you.

Barcelona, beautiful city, good shopping but full of tourists & the beaches north & south full of charter tourists.

Ibiza, an island. Not much besides beach. Fun, yes

Milan, a lot to go for it. Specially you should not stay too much in the city but go out and see the countryside which is great and not far i.r. florence or Bologna or Lake Como/Garda. Milano only for flying in/out & shopping

Rome, great city, lots of history & great shopping. But all of it city & hot & lots of tourists

I'd go for Rome. Good for shopping, historical sightseeing and eating.

Yes, go to Italy. Stay in the north. I would go to Milano(great shopping) North you have lake Como or lake garda. Both have beautiful scenery, mountains etc. South you have Bologna and Florence (romanitic). The Tuscany area (around Florence) is heaven.I. believe QA flies into Milano

Then Italy, better shopping, as far as must see places both are about the same. I would avoid Spain at this time of year especially since its vacation time, the beaches are way to crowded and so are the bars..;P

If you only have a week best to just do a couple of cities max.

btw, if you decide on Spain I can recommend Barcelona. Very nice.

Italy. I always love going there. They have the best food. Cities I've been to and would recommend; Milan, Venice, Turin, Rome. The Cinque Terra is also nice, and Lake Garda. Where to go depends on what you want from the holiday.

Which ever you go to, unfortunately the strong Euro will make everything expensive.

i'd like to combine all possible activities: to see nice/historical/”must-see” places… definitely to do some shopping (specially since August is all-on-sale month i believe..lol..)… and probably, but not necessary, to drop my exhausted body onto some beach.. but if not, it's ok, i can always make it up in Dubai..

so plan is narrowed to “must-see” places and shopping.

for the sights and the shopping, or quieter in the lakes.

Spain for the beaches, a hard choice :)

Both are beautiful countries and worth visiting. But the most important thing is what are you interested in? Nature, shopping what.

I know both countries well and can help you on deciding. But need more input from you
