Visit from girlfriend

By Juuno

Hi, I'm moving to Doha this autumn. I was wondering if my gf can come visit and stay in my apartment for a week every 6 months or so? or is this not allowed since we're not married?

just dont tell everyone she is ur girlfriend you can tell she is your wife. or just be quite normally people here in Doha especially expat dont mind it! so just watch out for some Qataris.

Just tell people she's your wife. Nobody will actually check that.

Alexa, I don't think "visit of friend" in Doha is against the law. To live together out of wedlock as husband and wife, while both are residents of Qatar, is against the law. But it would be nonsense if female friend couldn't come and visit her male frined (or otherwise)for about a week or so.

Is the visitor a gay guy, a one legged lesbian in a wheelchair, Gordon Brown or Jordan? How can one possibly answer such a complex question without that information? Hic - back to the gin

zaidp, nothing personal but...you started a forum topic about whether it was a good idea to come to qatar and you concluded after much thought, Im sure, that its not. Why dyu keep harping on about how Qatar is no good, Qatar is no good. We heard you already. Nobody's interested in convincing you otherwise. For a guy who is ABSOLUTELY not interested in Qatar I have to ask...why are you still here???!

oh.. it's deifferent situation.. flat shared with co-worker... nooo.. my ex lives in 3-bed room flat on his own...in your case i am not sure.. you will have to share the room with your guest ...hhhmmmm...

dmigtysolomon: I think it's a fair question. Of course we wouldn't go around in public and cuddle. I was just asking to see if I needed to check out hotels etc for her to stay while she is here. It's a 2bed flat shared with a co worker, so of course I'll ask him first - I just wanted to know how the general view on the situation was.

well, he doesn't have to say: this is my girfriend and i sleep with her. why? cannot JUST a friend come from your country to visit you? or even your relative? some cousin or whoever? what's wrong with that? not every man sleeps with every woman...

absolutely nothing wrong with that...

it's different when you LIVE with your b/g frined constuantly, like with a spouse...

but if your friend comes for 1-2 weeks to visit you and to see and enjoy Qatar, what's wrong with that??

Your ex happened to have nice colleagues.. once he's here and sees the way the tenants are he can then know if he'd feel comfortable having his g/f or not.. but on a general not it is not a problem.. no worries and good luck

nothing will happen.. first time i came to qatar in february 2006 for 2 weeks, to visit my (now)ex-boyfriend, and stayed in his apartment, provided by his company, in the building full of his colleagues.. some of them even used to come over to meet me.. he just was saying it is my friend from canada, she came to qatar to visit me.. no one ever questioned him..

Well if ur g/f is coming here on visa or sponsored by some other friends and she doesnt have to have a hotel reservation for her visa she could stay with you and no one would know.. as long as when ur in public you take care to follow the decorum.. but be careful if u are staying a company provided accomodation.. then the company might cause u problems or tell on u..

Suggest u go to Dubai to hook up with your Girlfriend... I must admit, Qatar is not looking like too good a destination. I may as well stay where I am. Sure we have crime, but who I sleep with is my business
