Salary for a Chinese_English Interpreter
Hey Everyone ,I am new here. I am a Chinese . I just got a job in a small city in Qatar .(sorry I forgot the name)They said I can get 800 dollar per month at the beginning, Then they will rise my salary to 1000 dollar per month . Is that okay ? Is that fair? PS;boarding is for free. But I need pay the airplane ticket by myself when I go to Qatar for the first time.
Yes, that's correct, the above answer is appropriate, In china everything much less expensive than in Qatar, (I have been to China about 6 months ago)Make sure you get the airfare plus accommodation FREE if you go for the first offer.
It's better u stay in China. Some Chinese people i know here are not happy cos there is hardly any form of entertainment. If your would-be employer can't provide for your airfare,it's better you forget the job.Paying your airfare shows they are committed and reputable.
All in all, don't negotiate for less than USD1500/month with free accomodation, airfare, medicals, transportation and holiday pay.
Just to let u know, a Chinese friend of mine who works as a Chinese/English interpreter gets USD2000/month on top of other perks.
All the best.
hi, I think it's not enough. living expenses are quite high compare to China. I assume u don't need to rent apartment (you have to make sure of it), while other expenditures such as food is almost 2.5 times of what you spend in China.
only if the company covers your food (or one meal at least), housing, transportation, then it's ok. but if u can find better offer in China and staying in China is much better.
If you intent to save some money, this offer will not help. You would need at the least 300 USD to survive. Personal expenses extra, which may begin at around 100USD for a modest person. add phone expenses 30 USD plus airtime. Entertainment is also costly. If housing is not included, forget the offer. If you are coming, be sure that you get a proper employment contract. Get the provision of 1000USD included if possible. Verbal assurances may not be enforced.
