First National Gay Parade in India...
Marchers find nation’s gay voice
Delhi Gays, lesbians and transvestites take to the streets of Delhi in India’s first nationally coordinated marches aimed at overturning a law carrying a fine and ten-year prison term for homosexual activity. They also marched in Calcutta and Bangalore. In Delhi, gays had never attempted a public march before.
The first Pride march in the country happened in Cacutta in 1999. Activists say that few people are arrested or convicted under the law but the fear of ostracisation was evident among some marchers, who wore masks.(AFP)

Katmandu, Nepal - Sunil Pant has built a successful gay rights movement – one that has fought against discrimination and violence in this conservative Southeast Asian country.
"It's absolutely astonishing," said Scott Long, who works on issues of sexuality for Human Rights Watch. "Considering how few resources they have and the depth of prejudice they have to fight against, what they've achieved is extraordinary."
The advances are part of a larger social and political ferment brewing in Nepal, one of the world's poorest countries. After 10 years of a Maoist insurgency, a democratic transition is under way.

Gay Pride Week is an event held in Toronto, Ontario during the last week of June each year. It is the one of the largest organized Gay Pride festivals in the world, featuring several stages with live performers and DJs, several licensed venues, a large Dyke March, and the Pride Parade. The epicentre of Pride Week is the city's Church and Wellesley village, and both the Dyke March and the main Pride Parade are primarily routed along the nearby Yonge Street, Gerrard Street and Bloor Street.
(UUUHUUU!! My favo Bloor Street! I love you Bloor Street!)
This year Toronto's Pride Week celebrated its 28th anniversary. In the 2005 parade, newly appointed Toronto police chief Bill Blair became the first chief of police in the city's history to personally take part in the parade. He marched alongside politicians of all parties, including several federal and provincial cabinet ministers and Mayor David Miller.
