Forced Move to Mesaieed

How many others are there out there who do not wish to move to Mesaieed Industrial City with their families? I'm sure we are not the only ones by any means.
Who wants to live far from their friends, their children's friends & after school activities, shops, cinemas, restaurants and everything else which makes up for living in this country? Don't get me wrong: I love it here. If they insist on changing where we live, when I and my husband are happy where we live, in Doha, then we might not stay in Qatar at all.
Did they not learn their lesson in al Khor? A mass exodus because we do not appreciate being herded about like sheep. They invited us here so we are their guests. What about this fabled Arabic hospitality? They want us to live in a situation they would not tolerate for their own families: there are thousands of bachelor labourers living there with no entertainment but to watch other people. You want to take your teenage daughters to Mesaieed to live? I think not. Us wives won't feel comfortable, either, no matter what our age!
Fair enough that new recruits, when they can get them, should be expected to live in Mesaieed; that wasn't part of the deal when my husband signed up. We wouldn't have come in the first place as he already knew what it was like that far from civilisation.
Our professional husbands can get a job anywhere in the world: why would they put up with this treatment? The answer is - they don't have to.

We've been in Doha nearly 10 years. Why would we want to move? Our life is in Doha and we have no desire to go anywhere else. The company expects everyone who works in Mesaieed to live there now. Fine for newcomers.

I can assure you that it is more than half an hour away and the traffic is horrendous. Might as well go into hibernation if we have to move. No one will want to visit us: it's bad enough getting across Doha these days. I was rather hoping for comments from others in the same boat ... They'll know who they are.

Remember, there is no entertainment so one would have to return to Doha of an evening. Sounds like a good idea.

sure mesaieed is not too far, about half an hour away from doha but one thing you have to worry about is the drive along the mesaieed-wakra hiway, too dangerous during peak hours.

it's more difficult if you have schooling kids. there's no school there yet as far as i know.

but not sure when we will be going. Unlike your husband, it was in my husbands contract, so we knew we might well move there. It's not that far really and the houses look quite goo.

So don't worry, just enjoy yourself.

By the way, there are plenty of families living there... I undertand your complain, but then the whole country is like this, I wouldnt want my daughter to live in Messaid, not even in Doha...

--------

You know, that you are screwed, when ur phone rings, while you sneak into your own house like a thief and your wife is asleep at 3 am in the morning... Perhaps that would be the last time you enter your own house lol.
