Time to setup in Doha

Hello everyone,

I've been offered to move to Qatar. I wonder how much time it might take to find an apartment and setup properly. Also, I heard that the area around the university is the best place as my work will be on site outside Doha.

I appreciate any hint related to the setup and the cost of living.

I thank you all for the quick reply. Actually, i'll be working in Ras Lafan. But i understood that living in Al-khor is not so far from Doha and also, it's not a nice place. ppl recommended somewhere near the university as it's close to the center and at the same time no trafic to Ras Lafan.

What's the name of the area around the university?

bassam ... i received your e-mail, i am sorry i couldnt answer it. I am leaving tonight for our annual hols.

Regarding about places to stay, i only can suggest make sure you get the house nearby your working place, otherwise commuting would be a pain.

There are a search function on the top right of this page, if you use that i am sure you will find some answers.

If you have any perticular question just ask away on here, i am sure other QL'ers can help you out.

All the best.

It'll take around 2-4 weeks for your RP to get ready. You may find accomodation in your first week, but it may take several weeks, depends on your requirements. You can only get a telephone line after the RP is ready, and it takes around 5 days for them to install.
