Hello to everyone!!! i just wanna share this..
I enrolled in Doha driving school just to secure a driver's license. I paid 1100 QR for a half a course (12 DAYS). first, they scheduled me july 7, 2008 for my first session of driving. I asked them why next month, why not now. they told me they don't have available slot right now and no driving instructor is free. but when i saw the parking area, lots of instructors were there doing nothing, they were just like military men standing there waiting a command. i just scratched my head for my frustration. i was about to leave when the reception guy called me and asked me if i need the license quickly, i said yes without hesitation. he said " i will scheduled this afternoon but pay 200 QR for commission". i was shocked when he asked me 200QR, it's a big money for low-earning person like me. i hold a breath for while, think, and payed....:( waaaahhh.... it was so frustrating that i have to pay my schedule.

this afternoon was my second session.... it went fine...
but something so annoying with the instructors... they keep yelling when they see a small mistakes... my point is this, did i pay them 1100 QR to yell at me... do they can't teach without yelling?

one thing more, my schedule is 2pm i arrived at 2:20pm... i was late because i got work untill 2pm, i approached the indian man, who is responsible in checking the attendance and what car to use, he got mad at me because i was late.. i am trying explain my side but he didnt listen to me... he was very hard to please... Is this school better than any other driving school.. please i need your comment.. and also give me some tips in driving especially during the testing day... i would appreciate your suggestions.... thank you very much...

I too have to agree with foolish, I got my license through Karwa, and I found their driving school to be of a very high standard, compared to the rest thats around.

Of course their taxi drivers are very bad ambassadors for the company

I was told by Gulf driving school , they didnt have a slot open for 4months, and on checking around I was told by people who used them that, their instructors ask for bribes, by way of cash n phone cards....

did you enrolled? Karwa driving school is good, based on experience. I started my lesson the following day. No tips (they are not allowed to accept tips), polite instructors... tests are on road signs, pocket, and road test only. easy to pass. Took 7 days, and passed in first attempt. PM me if you need some pointers, what I know these instructors are not giving complete standard traffic rules and regulations.

edit: lol, Doha driving school... foolish me..

That is indeed verbal abuse... speaking of which, I will have to post another rant thread against Karwa drivers.

u should maximize your learning experience by leaving work early. try talking to your boss. it is important that you arrive early.

lastly, don't mind the shouting. listen to what they are telling you. apply it, and make sure that you do it well.

i think your teacher is a bit enthusiastic. for me, it is better that way... i recall seeing some instructors who just don't care how their students were doing... they just watch them make mistakes...

choose a quiet teacher, ignorant teacher... or a shouting one... never underestimate the masters.. they will be teaching you the rules and tricks... and those are important.

study hard my friend... you don't get 2nd chances in doha streets.. once you have a bad collision.. believe me that it is a real bad situation... you might hurt yourself... i know a few who were just too confident enough that they just can't drive without an accident in a month!

good lucK!

that is verbal abuse. they seem to forget that YOU are their client.

well, I almost forgot, they are used to yelling all the time..as if it makes them feel superior doing so.

goodluck, hope you'll be ok.
