I was driving in bumper-to-bumper traffic in front of Sofitel, National area. Of course, there is barely any room to manoeuvre. With the concentration carefully kept in check, I was moving behind a red (or was it maroon?) Honda MRV. And then suddenly, out of nowhere comes this stranger in an Arab dress in his…guess what? A white Land Cruiser.

Obviously, he is in a great hurry and tries to overtake me through the right, IN THE HEART OF THAT bumper-to-bumper traffic. The Honda MRV was driven by a lady. I am thinking it’s a lady coz the eyes were very feminine, and she did not have on the dress of an Arab lady.

He passed me (barely) through the right and tried to shoulder the MRV off the road, onto the other lane, where traffic was oncoming from the other side. The lady just DID NOT GIVE WAY. She held her nerve, even though the other guy was getting dangerously closer to her from the right. He inched closer and closer until I shut my eyes for a second thinking they would collide…

I opened them and she hadn’t moved an inch. He had stopped and had let her pass. I shouted from my car in joy. But it did not last long. Coz the very next moment, the Arab person got an opening through the right, went straight ahead and cut in front of her, wrong side.

She did not even react to this stupidity. No raised voices, no high beam light taunts, no nothing. A few minutes later, she turned away to Akai round about and me, towards the opposite side.

I don’t know if she is gonna read this post, but if she does… I want her to know that…

A) You were graceful through the whole episode.
B) You never let the pressure get to you.
C) You did what was right AND most importantly
D) YOU DID IT WITH A LOT OF SPUNK.

You go, lady. How I wish I could keep your calm and still achieve the same result.
