the question was about the Exit Permit, not about keeping your passport...
yes, Camila.. this is a normal practice here.. EVERY TIME you want to travel, no matter where, even to Bahrain, you have to obtain an exit permit from your sponsor.. unless the multiple exit permit is issued for you.. then obviously you can use your multiple exit permit until it's expired.
You need an exit permit from your employer. If you are a spouse and under your spouse's sponsorship, you don't need an exit permit. You can walk out freely. If you are employed, then sponsor has to issue an exit permit for you. Normally, if you are genuine and don't have any legal problems with your sponsor, there is no problem. If you are a convict or under trial you won't be allowed to leave the country. Recently, people face problems at immigration counter while leaving, if one has traffic violations/fines to be paid, pending qtel bills, Kharama bills etc. hence, clear all your dues before embarking on an overseas trip.
No;we cannot go overseas whenever we want from Qatar.
If you have Residence Permit in Qatar exit permit (hurujiya) is needed .otherwise take new visit visa or multiple entry pass for the present visit visa .
Ummm, employers are no longer legally allowed to keep you passport without your permission. If they ask for it tell 'em to drop dead and report them to the Labour Ministry for an education programme.
Yes, you will need an exit visa to leave the country. Some companies give their employees a multiple exit visa. Something you should speak to them about.
