there.  Turned it down without a second thought.   My husband worked there on a project, 2 weeks on 2 weeks off for a year and a half.    Beautiful country, but just like others had said.    He had armed guards with him at all times.    Was accosted by policeman for bribes.  Our company housing was absolutely 1st rate, but we chose not to go as no schooling past 8th grade,, nervousness about proper medical care and you had to take the malaria medicine always.   The medicine ended up making my husband sick all the time.

Yes, as I say, I've never been, and my info is second-hand from people who chose to leave, but the poverty was what drove my friends away.

I would love to go to Angola. I have been several times to Mozambique and it is a dream to go to Angola.

It is meant to be beautiful but after 27 years civil war there are few amenities.... thus expats pay a lot for imports and live according to their expectations.

There is massive poverty.

The music is excellent.

There is a lot of Chinese investment.

Got co-workers who worked there in the  past at one of the international schools.  Loved the kids and the parents, but the extreme poverty and prevalence of weapons led them to leaving after about six months.  Getting held up by armed men for the groceries was the straw the broke the camel's back.
