Welll - it does seem the rent and the prices are everyones headache- just my point - all that shines is not gold. Especially the 'new' villas/compounds/apartments- you have to really look in these cases. I did not give 'structural' guidelines in my article but architectural design guidelines - ones you can pick out by just looking if you know what to look for. All I intended was to share my experience in the hope it will help somebody.
Actually if you see the older single storey villas - the designs then were usually well thought of. Storage was considered, the kitchen functions were distinc, vehicle garages and turning circles were done well ..... much better in my opinion than many of the new ones.
Scary....
Live and let live...
well omneia..its not as easy as it sounds. Do you think a new compound 15,000 Qr a month is a good choice? These also have structural problems and they are new...
new places, which are strating somewhere from QR 9,000-10,000 for 1 br and from QR 12,000 for 2-br apartment should be not too bad... others - older and cheaper- are piece of crap. That's it.

Hi,
well, if you make the right choice in renting an accomodation you would get the proper sink, ceiling and bath that doesnt leak - and you would most certainly not need the repairman that often. As for the land lord - sorry not my area of expertise!
Design and structue is ideal for renting homes, however in Doha i would settle for a sink, ceiling, and bath that doesnt leak and a landlord who isnt a ghost and repairmen who actually know what they are doing...
