Want to have an impact on the future of leisure and entertainment in Doha?

Hello,

I wonder if you can help.

I am currently working for a company that it
advising on two developments in Doha,
for which part of the work involves primary research with locals in the area.
The first development is still being built, but will centre around
international culture, cuisine and art forms.
The second development already has modern, state of the art facilities
for both tourists and locals, and we are looking to expand the development’s
offering. We would be looking to obtain
views from the kind of people that are likely to benefit from the future
development.

As a result, I am looking to find suitable
avenues through which to contact Expats, (preferably Western), in order to set
up interviews for the research, and thought that this website would be a useful
place to start!

Is this something that either yourself, or
other contacts might be able to help me with?

I am currently in Doha and will be staying
for two weeks in the Ramada Hotel. As such, I am looking to arrange
suitable times to meet with people in order to have an informal discussion
around 45 minutes in length. It will cover subjects such as your shopping
and leisure habits, as well as perceptions of the current offerings in Doha and
potential for improvements.

This could take place at the most convenient
location, for instance at a hotel or at home, and of course, willing
participants would be rewarded for their efforts.

If you, or anyone else that you know, are
able to help, I would be very grateful if you could respond.

Many thanks and kind regards,

aimée whitcroft

Hi all

In addition, I'd like to point out that Western does not necessarily involve skin colour - I know people of every race who are Western.  I apologise for having offended anyone - as Greeker said, it certainly wasn't my intention :)

If anyone is seriously interested in being interviewed, please feel free to send me a private message.

Thanks again!

Hello

You certainly have a point, yes, and we will also be talking to a number of other groups in Qatar, both residents and non-Western expats.  For this phase, however, we are primarily interested in the Western expats, although i hasten to add that the facilities are most certainly not aimed exclusively at them, but rather at improving leisure facilities for Qataris and (all) expats alike :)

thanks for your response, though!

How does skin colour tell anyone what region or country one is born/grew up in?

I WASN'T accusing her of segregating people according to skin colour and i DON'T think that was really her intention in the first place. I was just saying that if she limited her feedbacks only from the Western expatriates, then it would not be the feedback from the MAJORITY of expatriates. Of course, if the facility is built EXCLUSIVELY for Westerners, then it is a different matter.

But since i did not get that impression from her letter, i stick with what i said. And hey, i REALLY DONT think she was making a statement against expatriates, guys. Just cool down. I was just pointing out something to her as an average reader. i am sure she will find success in QL. Dont scare anybody already, hehe!

Hi, it is realy a good idea.

I have worked and lived here for most one year. I like cuisine.

I cooked chinese food at my flat and tasted others dishes outside. Now I can prepare some Indian food and cook them. Now i am in China. I make indian food to my son. he likes them very much. While KFC and other fast foods are very bad but they are very delicious in China.

...be welcome to take the test? He is an expatriate, from the eastern part of the universe, and on vacation to Qatar as his spaceship crash landed in Qatar.

I really dont know why you prefer Westerners to do your research on, maam. is tghis some kinda facility for westerners alone? I really dont get it, which is why i am asking. Expatriates in Doha heavily outnumber the residents. Similarly, non-westerners heavily outnumber the westerners. I would like to humbly suggest that if you take feedbacks from a majority western population, then your data would be heavily flawed (unless you are targeting western population exclusively).

Anyways, all the best for your endeavor. I also would like to clarify that i aint one of those crackpots who cry hoarse about western domination in Doha. I personally think its a lotta Blah. But i just wanted to point this out to you. Like i said, all the very best! You have come to the right place, QL, to start the research work!
