Teaching job with QP for a single guy...

12,400QR per month salary

313 GBP per month western inducement

2000 QR per month travel expenses

1000 QR per month location allowance

insurances paid

3 x flights back to the UK per year

4000QR per month housing supplement

Free car loan

About 3000GBP in furniture allowance

Bonus payment of 8% salary earned at end of contract

Is this a decent salary for there?

20 years!? Mine... then those just join for recent months were the lucky batch because of the recent adjustment on the salaries and allowances, besides introduction of this currency protection allowance.

It's taken them a long time to recognise that it was needed (like 20 years).

Sorry dweller you are right. It has nothing to do with WIA. It is called currency protection allowance.

If it's a compensatory allowance for the loss in exchange rate it's obviously different to WIA.

The WIA was never to do with exchange rates.

Torc, you cannot have WIA added to the basic, that's why it is an allowance. The cumulative costs would be phenomenal.

The only way it will ever be removed would be to increase the basic. For that reason it will be there for a long, long time

It, the WIA, should have been amended when the grades changed and when the scales changed. It now bears little relationship to the grades/salary scales as it once did.

I will check with my friend or my insider (copy your term)  what kind of allowance do they call it. It is definately no EIA because not all eastern country employees have it.

dweller, not of asian origin but now having western nationality. QP just introduced it last 2 or 3 months ago. The Malaysian employees in QP do receive allowance (certain % of their basic) to assist/compensate them for the loss on the conversion of money.

If you can get the "western inducement" added to the basic salary, then your gratuity will somewhat increase. By labour law, all must recevie gratuity which is 21 days per year.

The housing is very low. If single, you need that up to Qrs.8,000/- due to the current rental market rates. The company should if they are being true comprehend this as a fair request.

The base salary is not huge but the other perks are fine. If you are single, you will be chilling!

This  8% bonus, make certain it is noted as a "bonus" so that it does not get mixed up as gratuity.

When you say paying it to employees from some asian countries, I assume those will be those of asian origin but now having western nationality.

Otherwise they would have introduced an EIA (Eastern Inducement Allowance)

What can you rent for 4000 you can't even get a closet for that price. QP is the now the lowest paying employer in Qatar.  Look to RasGas or Qatargas

What grade is this?

The housing allowance seems to be less. Should be much more

QP is also paying their employees from some asian country too now.

was introduced in 1992/3 to compensate western staff.

It avoided increasing the pay scales for all when it was only western staff that they couldn't recruit
