For myself first time i see trio that middle east musician in it. I am impressed the most with Remi. A very young man with a very amazing piano skills.
Remi Khalife from novita77 on Vimeo.
Rami Khalife in piano. He born in Beirut in 1981, begin playing the piano at te age of seven. Left Lebanon in mid-nineties, continue his study in France and in 2000 Rami began his studies at the Julliard School of Music in New York and graduated in 2003.
Not only as a concert pianist, Rami is a renowned composer and jazz pianist. He has performed extensively with his father - Marcel Khalife.
Remi currently working on two of his album to be recorded in the near future, and undertaking a very hectic schedule of concerts both in the middle east and europe.
Katharine Reichstaller in viola. Born in Hamburg, Germany. Her education on the violin started at the age of four. By ten years of age she had already given many solo concerts in Munich. After her studies with Professor Pichler in Vienna, she started her professional career with The Munich Philharmonic Orchestra with whom she still plays. As her career developed, she turn increasingly toward the viola, and since 2001 she has partnered violinist Lorenz Nasturica in chamber music and concerto concerts in many parts of the world.
Lorenz Nasturica in violin. Born in Bucharest, begin to play the instrument at the age of 4. He completed his studies in 1985 with magna cum laude and in 1986 he obtained the seat of concert master with the Helsinki National Opera where he conducted several Finish Chamer Orchestra as well. He has been the Concert Master for the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra since 1992. In 1994 he recorded a live CD of Brahm's violin concerto with the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra under the direction of Zubin Metha. Lorenz has performed in the most important halls in Israel, Finland, Germany, Japan, Korea, China, USA, England and Spain. In addidiotn he is a permanent guest first violin for the Euskadi Symphonic Orchestra at the Conservatiure Superieure in San Sebastian. Lorenz plays a 1711 Stradivarius.
The trio did not actually played pieces as mentioned in the program sheets, they modify a bit here and there. But still it was an enjoyable night.
I appreciate Qatar Foundation bringing these type of concerts every few months. Any other countries will cost you alot more to watch classical recital, but i guess here it is subsidized.
A big thank you to Qatar Foundation and looking forward for the next recital.
Some videos i took from last night :

thanx for your kindness
beccakinn ... the media in Doha little bit in the backwards side. They do the reporting after the event happened. I normally catch the recital advert from my son's school. And since i joined QL ... i tried to put the event on the QL Calendar. I guess the best way is checking QL Calendar now and again.
I am about to leave Norway and I am pretty heartbroken at saying goodbye to four years worth of season tickets to see the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. We are really lucky here as we get to see Leif Ove Andsnes, Joanna McGregor, Stephen Hough and other worthies.
I am really pleased to see that there is some classical music to go to.
Is there any way of getting involved in the classical music scene there in Doha? A committee, maybe, or just an email to perhaps suggest or request performances?
Thanks again for this report.
