NOC

I met my wife here in july 2006 and we have a beautiful 3 month old daughter. I asked my company if I could sponsor my wife and child and they said no. In fact, they wrote a letter and stamped it. My wifes company has better accomodations than mine so it didn't matter. Her company continues to sponsor her and we live together.

I also asked if I could sponsor a nanny so the both of us can work. They said no to that as well. I make a lot more money than my wife, but she is provided a better accomodation. So, I had just resigned after 2 years and 1 month with my current employer. This is the only way my child can get the care she needs.

Now my company says I cannot have an NOC to change over sponsorship to my wife. How can a company legally keep someone away from there family? I know there has to be some sort of law against these practices. Who should I contact in this situation. Human Rights or Gulf Times?

Thank You All. I have been stressing this for a few days. My ex-HR told me it was up to Washington D.C. to get a NOC. I know that is bull. I am pretty sure it's a violation of human rights not to give me one.

Plus, I was a damn good employee.  These people are rediculous.

Make yourself Happy and hopefully others will follow.

David Goewey....you dont need Company NOC  for (Nanny) maid !!!

I admire you amd am proud of your devotion to your family.

You need have resigned. For a Nanny you only need your Salary statement from your company!

Your wife can sponsor you (depends upon her Company & Income I guess) for Visit Visa (which you will will be valid for 6 months).

Once you exit Qatar she can apply for a  Visit Visa. (I wonder if they can refuse visit visa, if they refuse then I guess it might be difficult for you and your family), which usually they give in about 3-7 days.

These above things the HR manager & the PRO of most companies do not know (as they seldom have a family here).

I am not sure if the man can be on the wife's sponsorship. Resigning from the

company wasnt a good thing, the least you could've done was move to

another company and transfer ur sponsorship. The law is once u quit, u

must leave the country in 3 months or so i heard.

You could contact the ministry of Labour and find out what you could do.

It's always the small things that make big differences.

Hi David,

You should definitely take this issue up to the Labor Department, now that they have new rules and regulations, even Wifes can sponsor their husbands. You have your rights as an employee, and the Labor Department can back you up now :) Not that I have tried dealing with them though... but try your luck. They're trying to make things better around here in Qatar.

For now try to find a temporary baby sitter that you don't have to sponsor until you settle things down. I'm sorry to hear that you have to resign because of the stupid rules from your ex-Company!

Cheers, Austin
