On average how long does getting a job usually take?

I applied for a job last summer, was e-mailed an offer in January and I now waiting for an offical offer letter.

Does anyone have any experience getting work with QP and how long was it from your application to actually starting work?

Both myself and my wife are becoming impatient, not really sure if our big move is happening or not.
