I was under the observation of Dr.Salma at DOHA CLINIC..I found her much comfortable and very supportive..Shez n IRAQI doctor but shez in ease with every patient of any nationality..I had my delivery at DOHA CLINIC..Its bit expensive if u don't have insurance..It costs us without insurnace QR 11900 last year including 5days stay with all medical facilities..

I delivered my son in Abu Dhabi last year. al cornish hospital is really really good..i would definitely go back to AD for my delivery. perfect midwives and the love & care is excellent

Cheers

Withnail, that sounds awful! The problem here is that there are no proper midwives as such. Midwives really are the font of all knowledge and are able to challenge dodgy doctors' practice...I advise anyone to go to the Al Corniche hospital in Abu Dhabi (properly trained midwives there!)...I'm not sure if i'd be happy with any of these quacks here!

my wife delivered at al ahli 5 months ago and it was a lot more complicated than it needed to be.

there are a couple of good doctors there (rizvi - super busy, dr. stefan - new, good) - don't know the others. we started with rizvi but she was going on vacation during exp delivery date so we went with dr stefan.

you need to be careful because your doctor might only stop by periodically and be there at the end for your delivery. one of the support doctors, a woman from iraq, not sure of her name, injected way too much of something into my wife. we know this because we overhead our doctor giving her crap and telling her she injected too much. after that things started to go wrong and an emergency c section was require. also, the anesthesiologist disappeared for a whle so when the c section was happening no one was sure how much my wife had.

also, the ultrasound techs are iffy. we got some bad results from an ultrasound so our doctor sent us somewhere else (she didn't trust the people in the hospital) and turns out the what al ahli's tech was telling us was crap.

there are some good people here, but overall the procedures and systems and sub par.

im 5 months pregnant and am seeing dr.jocelyn pulvera at the qatar medical center, i find her lovely and she is very thorough when i go to see her.you dont need to make an appointment, just go in and every time i have been in there i have gotten an ultrasound, which helps with the peace of mind, so the whole thing usually costs me 200 for consultation and unltra sound. good luck with the pregnancy, hope things go well!

sujatha is equally good and Dr Sujatha is working under rizwi so either way yu are benifitted and at least with sujatha yu can be guarentted that she wil be there even if yu deliver at night and wit dr rizvi that guarentee is not there since shes so busy. so go ahead and dont worry sujatha conduts almost all delivieris for rizvi.

hi, i saw ur post in the forum. I am coming to doha from india in a few days and i am about 2 mths pregnant. since u r pregnant too i guess u wud be able to give me a lot of valuable advise as to whether i shud have my delivery in doha or return to india for the delivery. also i saw that u have visited a few doctors there. i wud really appreciate if u can share ur experience wid me as i am also a first time mother and wud need some guidance from someone in that situation.

thanks.

interesting to read it from a patients perspective point of view.

i know most of the above mentioned doctors quite well...and most are good at their jobs.

but might i add that it is quite useless to assess a doctor/surgeon/gynae

unless she actually takes deliveries and/or does surgeries.

doing consultations and having good bedside manners is the easy part.

secondly if you are having complications always stick to a big team hospital where they are fully equipped for any eventuality.

thirdly kevjoe is quite right when she said its a psychological issue when it comes to patients choosing docs.

so dont read too much into it

but its quite advisable to take the above mentioned factors into consideration.

i wish you good luck .

do it right - the first time!

Thanks a lot for all the comments. i have consulted with sujatha seems like a reachable doctor.i have also appointment with dr rizwi next month ,i will try her too. i really hope sujatha is good coz it looks like dr rizwi is too busy so when i need her she might not b available.since both the doctors r in the same hospital i guess makes it easier,i have already told sujatha that i want to consult rizwi also, since i have made an appointment.does anyone who has consulted dr rizwi know if she gives her phone number to call if there r doubts n also if she will b there for delivery?

al ahli is expensive. if u can afford that go there as rizwi is avery good docter.i heard Sujaata is also good.also if u r plannign to ahve your delivery in a private hospital stick with al ahli and doha clinic. as evryone says Khudsiya begum is also very famous in doha. i personally like Dr. Hema Rajeev In al rafa as well.i would say take appointment with 2 or 3 docters and see with whom u r feeling comforable. different people have different opinions abt respective docters. its totally a pshycological issue when it comes to choosing a doc as i would say all of them r pretty good.
