I need some info on that fantastic invention called an I-Phone...

Hello all,

Had been meaning to get an i-phone for a long time now. The desire just crystallized into something more and i need to get one soon. I went through some of the back issues on the topic, but couldnt find much about who can sell me an I-Phone in Qatar...(I aint talking about the classifieds. Somehow, i am scared to trust them).

My request is simple, is there anybody in this forum who bought an i-phone in doha? How has the performance been? Is there any network compatibility problems? Does it work using the normal sim cards? where can i buy it from? Whats the price range now? is it worth the money?

Most importantly, if i wait for another two or three months, would i be able to get an original i-phone, unlocked and released by apple themselves? With the second telecom operator coming in, is there any chance of that? I really need advice on this one guys...

You can connect to the internet thru your Wi-Fi without the fear of updating the version. Even when you connect to itunes on your PC or Mac to synchronize your contacts, appointments or music you have the option of updating or not by clicking on a button for update. You can safely synchronize your iPhone without updating the firmware automatically.

You are right, When you cannot connect to the Internet or synchronize to your desktop iPhone is not worth it.

I'm an iPhone seller and I'll give you the straight up facts.

Alot of the sellers in Qatar sell it without an app called 'installer.app'. (this is important if you want to install your own third party software).

I sell mine for around 2,650QR. It costs 1,700 to buy and ship them from the US.

All iPhones are unlocked and hacked, so if you update your iphone in the future it'll be unlocked.

The NEW iphone will be released OFFICIALLY in Asia and the Middle East around February. Rumour has it, it'll be an iPhone2.

If you buy an unlocked one you will have no network problems.

The current price of iPhones is 2,800QR - 3,000QR (Prices have gone up due to Christmas)

(Side note: I don't have any more stock :P and I still sold them all for 2,650QR :))

How are you doing these days brother, long time no see. Well, the iPhone is really something very nice. Planning to buy one as soon as I got some green in my hands :) They say that in February it would be released world wide and no need anymore to unlock it. There is a guy here who will unlock it for 100 Q.R, ask someone from the states to get you one [400 US] only and just unlock it here. It means you will pay totally 1600 Q.R Max while they are selling that here for an am amazingly cheap price [2700 Q.R]. The phone won't update itself by itself, the updates you will get would be from iTune which will ask you every time if you want to download the latest updates. Just ignore it, cancel it an that is it.

Best Regards

Hey Guys, I dont know what experience you'll have had with the cracked Iphone, i have bought one for Qrs. 2700, great peice! excellent in fact, but i was told by the guy selling it not to update the version when i connect it for the first time!I did as i was told, I can make and receive calls, but i dont connect to the internet as i am afraid it will get locked again.

Given the above scenario, i dont know if it is a good idea to get an "unlocked" peice.

Comments anyone.

Regards,

Addy
