I ate a kit kat the other day in Carrefour and forgot to pay because I was waiting so long at the till... and I have been feeling really guilty.

Sad about the Nepali guy. There was an article in the Dubai paper about a Sri Lanka worker doing something similar at the airport..

fine

prison

deportation

poor guy.

I have seen shop lifting a lot in Manchester and the shop assistants are no way going to confront a couple of mad junkies.

i saw one time happened in carrefour city center, a nepali labor drink one coca cola on the right spot and after finish drinking, he walk out. pretend nothing happen.

but thanks god, there is security camera watching him and as soon as he leave the carrefour the security take him down and bring him to control room. they investigate him, soon or later he confessed and admitted that he have drank the coca cola.

the security give him fine 100 riyals or he have to go to police and the police was there waiting for his response. and i believe he dont have money to pay so the police took him away.

what a sad story. it was on the hot summer day on doha. and this man must be really tirsty. he must be working nearby city center as his lunch break he hangout in there.

I witnessed shoplifting done several times in Citi Center.

There was one time the alarm went off in NEXT but the lady ignored it, continued walking and motioned her maid to push fast her Carrefour pushcart. The saleslady was unable to do anything.

I also saw a similar thing happen in Debenhams but the poor male guard could not do anything to stop the two ladies. They just turned to him and motioned not to touch them or their bags. He called the store manager but they were unable to identify the two ladies who walked off into the crowd.

Most of the things taken are small items or shirts. In Carrefour or most groceries, it is consuming drinks, chocolates, bread, etc. without paying for them and then leaving the cans, bottles and wrappers on the shelves.

If you do not see shoplifting happening here in Qatar then I think you choose to ignore it or you are blind.

When I was 12 years old, my brother and I visited this convenient store and stole a comb and some rock candy. We got caught red handed by the store owner. We fled and ran like a sprinter. Unfortunately the owner of the store new our father and made the complain to our dearest father about our audacity.

I remember as it happen today, our father stripping his leather belt and beating the crap out of us. We end up going back to the store owner and apologizing for our actions. Our legs and arms look like Zebra stripes, black and blue markings.

From that moment on, in our life's; we never stole anything from no one. We taught our children the same discipline, but in a very different ways.

Not by beating them, but by taking away their TV rights, In-House ground rules, no phone or incoming calls and the famous time outs. Is less harsh physically but emotionally is a devastating tool. One awesome tool for learning self-refraining and self control.

I use to check security on a certain store in Japan, and I found out that it is easier to shoplift bigger items like tv and alike because store employees don't pay attention to big stuff being carried out... The funny thing is sometimes employees will even help you take it your car..

sometimes they commit shoplifting not because they need those items, it could be a disease known as kleptomania or somebody with an obsessive urge to steal, especially when there is no economic necessity...could be from small items to i dont know what...

how's the law applied when caught shoplifting? i got no idea..

I wonder if they have cameras or just security guys going around?

The only things I would be tempted to shoplift are too heavy and too big to be hidden in my pocket lol. Hard to imagine a Plasma T.V inside my pocket?? :D

Shop lifting is nothing to do with one's capacity to buy things.

You go through the records of shop lifting and you will see all OR most of the shop lifters are not theifs.

It is more to do with excitment and human nature. Many a times rich & famous have indulged in this activity.
