traffic rules

I recently moved from dubai to doha on work .. well doha seems to be a bit relaxed and i am kind of gettig used to the place . it reminds me of bahrian which is also a relaxed place i worked in bahrain for sometme and comepletely fell in love with everything around me... i live in al sadd so everyday i cross the signals i mean i walk.. so i tk the pedestrian crossing to go to the other side of the road for dinner as there are quite a lot of food joints and my evening tea.. i have never found something so strange in any of the GCC countries which i had visited earlier . when the signal turns red .. the pedestrian crossing should turn green for the pedestarian to cross.. but for my surprise this does'nt happen and i have been noticing it since past one month .. exactly one month and the traffic authorities are not concerned abt this at all .. it is such a serious thing... bcoz when i walk when both the lights are red. i mean the signal is read and the pedestarian is red.. i can't make out when the signal will turn green.. i am at risk of my life . coz our fellow drivers are always in a hurry and they care a dam if the signal is green .. in dubai there is construction happening everywhere . labourers work there 24 hours .. but they always keep the pedestarian to be their highest priority .. this is the height of negligence .. and i am waiting for someone to high light this to the authorities who seems to be sleeping on such a major issue .. do we have to wait for an accident before me plan anything ..

Welcome to Qatar.Good observation. Don't worry you will get used to it.

You can do whatever you want, to draw the attention of the authorities, but nothing will happen. They know that people will shout when they are new here and when they are tired, they will stop.

You can see so many roads are digged up but most of time no one works there or even if you find someone working it will be couple of labours and the project continues for years...

So don't waste your time .Doha is 50 Years behind Dubai.
