Why do woman live in Qatar if they are constantly harassed by men? It isn’t going to improve- certainly not by ranting about it on QL, so if not for attention Gypsy, why do you insist on going on about it ??---how long has it been—a year?? It has nothing to do with age like some have suggested. AT 19 I wouldn’t have put up with it just like all the woman I know. I don’t see any other ladies on QL showing picture of themselves except for you—it’s a sure way to draw attention to your self—the question remains, why don’t QL ladies reveal to others what they look like, apart from the one person who rants about BEING harassed, who shows her face to strangers on QL?? This is a genuine question; you can mock me as much as you want Gypsy—I’m hoping to hear from others.

Mrs: I know, my friend just arrived back yesterday, he left in the summer and all he could say was he was floored by how much prettier everything is this time of year. I especially love going down to the Corniche, or the patio at Palomas where you can see the skyline of Doha, it's getting so BIG! It's hard to believe that when I came here less then 2 years ago there were maybe 5 buildings. I really want to get out to the Inland Sea this weekend, have a nice bonfire and enjoy a day at the beach with friends. :)

I prepared some light snacks, fresh juice, cut fruits & veggies, picked up a friend & went to have our brunch on the corniche now. We sat under a shade of a tree near that Halul cafe where they sell the fresh fish. You have no idea how overwhelming the whole scene was....the fishermen, the customers barganing, those little whilte boats, the amazingly refreshing sea breeze each time your lungs inhale that fresh air...the whole brunch was a relaxing experience & food to the soul. This is the best time of the year in Doha

I know what you mean Renee. When I saw Gypsy's picture I also thought she was showing off. But I have to tell you the reality is very different. I have met Gypsy. Her real name is Marjorie and she weighs at least 300lbs and she has a complexion reminiscent of a pepperoni pizza. You can be sure the picture is not her.
The first time I met her I got the fright of my life as she lumbered across the room quasimodo style. A very scary experience. I would avoid her if I were you.

I'm really happy that QL has a Social Group who meet up - makes one heck of a difference to actually meet the people you 'type-speak' to on here.
Also noticeable is the ones who DON'T want to meet in person. May not always be cos they don't want to, could be other reasons, but when someone is very vocal in the threads ..... well ...
I sincerely hope that you are having a good time defending people. Dont worry you will be having quite a time of your life if you keep on defending people on QL. I will watch from a distance

The problem is there are so many lonely people out there who look to the net for refuge. I'm not condoning that stalking/troublemaking/agressive behavior but I always feel for the underdogs.....can’t help it. I believe that some female members of QL are very defensive, not only for themselves but also for their like minded female QL friends.
I am still wondering who is more wrong, the person who started this thread, or the person who is trying to defend his/her friends. On one side there are people who dont like Gypsy being called a queen or miss gorgeous and on other are those who think that she is Miss Helen.
Sometimes some people get so obsessed by others that they think of them while eating drinking sleeping etc etc. For some I just wanna say instead of following and copying others be your own self.
Some people do take QL VERY seriously.
And as for Gypsy enjoy your fame. Cant say who is this renee, maybe another of Gypsy's followers.
diamondgirl managed to get the longest running thread in history in the shortest time, in between some argy bargy about whether or not one is offended by being stared at by blokes.

For what it's worth - I don't know Gypsy and I have never seen her but I am a frequent reader and sometime contributor to this forum and I have read MANY of Gypsy's posts. She appears intelligent, funny and seems to enjoy controversy (which makes the forum all the more interesting) but I have never felt that she was deliberately seeking the kind of attention that you are referring to.
I also agree with DG - poor form in attacking someone like that on QL. It goes against everything that this forum is supposed to represent and personally I think it smacks of jealousy.

I have never met Gypsy. But a couple of weeks ago, I was going to dine in one of the restos in Ramada and a friend pointed out who Gypsy was in a group of women.
She is a strikingly beautiful woman with a nice flowing hair and not some witch you are trying to picture her.
I think she deserves better.
