They break my car window and stole my bag !!!
Hi everybody,
I just want to inform you what happened to me yesterday night, everybody must know about that.
I was having a sheesha in a place not far from Ramada between 9 and 12 PM yesterday.
When I came back to my car, I found the rear window of my car broken and my laptop bag that was inside the car disappeared.
I had some important document and a passport inside. Nothing with value for these guys.
The police came after 5 to 10 minutes and they brought me to the police station on Corniche. I was the 2nd case of the night. Same thing happened a bit before on the parking of Sheraton.
So please to everybody be careful, close your cars, and don't leave anything that can be interesting for these guys. There's kind of robbers gangs around as per the police informations.
I take the opportunity also to ask if anybody find a laptop bag (black and grey) please contact me or bring it back to the police.
Thanks to forward this information to all your friends and relatives staying in Qatar. Qatar is not as safe as people told me when I came here 2 years ago!!!
I never leave anything valuable on show. Doesn't matter how safe a country is, temptation is too hard to beat.

i never leave the car open or any valuables ... i guess just a habit from your unsafe home country.
Low crime doesnt mean no crime !
Or you hope it was none of your friends....just kidding!

I'd like also to say something good about the story, 2 policemen came as I said around 10 minutes after I called. They were really professional guys, I was extremely surprized of this.
They kept the car for the night and did a finger print research on the car before returning it to me.
They count a lot on this to find out the guys!
I was in the desert with 10 friends this week end, they have probably touched my car... I hope they won't call them all!!!
do not trust anyone here coz there are a lot of expats here in Doha.

I'm sorry for this happening with you. Only the travel books are claiming Doha is one of the safetiest places in the world, but the truth is, it is as far from being safety than snow fall in August.
Don't leave anything unattended.

thanks for the warning..i thought qatar would be somehow safer..i oftenly leave my bag, mobiles just laying on the car seat whenever...but now have to hide them..:/
Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.
Hopefully the people responsible are caught, and are dealt with the right way.

"Manila I'm coming home!"
this is really extreme...i used to leave my valuables inside my cars...and more often leaving my car unlocked... thanks for sharing this buddy...
I never leave anything on display in the car - had a side window broken when parked in a side street in South London once, and all for an old jacket the dog slept on! Just not worth the hassle.
Guess Doha is no different when it comes to opportunist thieves.
That story of your friend and the 'favours' is a first for me! Wow .. very cheeky inDEED !
Hope you get passport sorted out OK pouf.
Its already instilled in me to lock any valuables in the boot or hide them under the seat..
I am sorry this happened to you pouf.... its seems to be happening more and more these days...
A friend of mine was walking by the gold souq the other evening and someone came and snatched her phone out of her hand...
On subsequent phone calls to her number, from friends phones, the thief said that he would return it only if she would grant him sexual favours... when they went to the police station, the cop spoke to him and told him that he should bring it back and they would give him a reward..... after that he switched of the phone....
The cheek of these thieves...
