Friends, I have a portable GPS device (not branded). It comes with trial version of Arabian gulf map. Does anyone have information as to where I can purchase GPS maps for :
1. Arabian Gulf full version
2. Europe Road Maps
3. Asia Road Maps.
Thanks in advance.

What signal do you mean. The G in GPS means Global and you should get signal almost anywhere with clear view of the skies.

@ djjazzy

the garmin gps u have suppose to work with no trouble.u r talking about middle east city navigator ver.4. which is the latest.for mid east cities. did u install it urself or was it installed by the seller? if u did it urself ther must be some wrong connection and always remember that the gps antenna need an open space on top of it...if u place it in the car , place it just on top of ur dashboard.(as there is just a glass on top off it). if u still cant do it urself go to the chop called CarMusic(mob:5397080), they r good at it.

@friend raj

there is a difference between the product key and the pruduct number.

u have to purchase the product key from the website.

I am able to use the gps so far in Doha. It has an activation key to furthur the usage (as it will expire after one month). But when I visit the website it asks for an 8/9 character product key. Bloody Hell !!! I have a product number which is 17 characters long !!! Damn, I am stuck.

Gps system does not share or send/recieve signals with satellites, there is no specefic satellite that any gps collaborates with.

How does a Portable Gps work?

every portable Gps can trace every satellite with a diametere on space.

there is no communication with any of these satellite. what happens is the Gps navigator calculates the space between each satellite and finds itself in a specific point in the globe.it will calculate the present News Point and find its location on earth (North, East ,west & South).

these maps are just a small picture used by the gps .

BTW there is no satellite called the ARABIAN GULF SATELLITE

Which shows that u din't understand anything from my previous post.

220v ---- i understand what you are saying. My GPS is compatible with Arabian Gulf Satellite.

FriendRaj,

different Gps use thier maps which are made of different formats. The Gps makers design and develop them in the format according to what program is used in the Gps.(which is called the OS)

You cannot just use an arabian gulf map of some other brand and try uploading it in your Gps. it just wont work. if u wanna try it yourself

go to www.garmin.com download any middle east map and try uploading it to ur gps (which will not even get uploaded).

call the shop in dragon mart and they will explain the same thing to u...and dont forget to ask them the website.

every portable Gps , Branded or non branded (but it does have a brand fo sure) have different maps like for the city, offroads etcs....

these maps get updated once in every few months or even a year due to the constructions happening on road and new places being built or even demolished.

so ur source of the map will be no where other than the Gps makers website, get the name of the brand and then find the website , if u find out there is no website for ur gps then sell it off...

if u got it from dragon mart ,then its obviosly chinese made and unluckily the website might be in chinese language and will not have english, at this point...

Kya haal chaal...anyways regarding your maps you might want to try out Online purchase stores, and you could also get them in Jarir...i guess all you have to do after getting them, is feeding that into your GPS System...

And now...buddy...are you trying to create Dabbawaala...in Doha...you know about Dabbawala in Mumbai don't you?

Muhammed12 I hope you are not joking about Garmin Store. As I said this GPS device is a non branded one brought from Dragon Mart, Dubai (Dhs.750/). Dragon Mart has branded and unbranded electronic stuff and you can freak out at the prices.
