how do you know I don't fear Allah?

Don't assume you know what faith I have in my heart.

Only God can judge me, and God alone.

Did I say that Qatari's should forget Islam?

Islam is a faith brought down to us by God through our prophet. It is intended to give us guidance through tests and unity. Too many Muslims are forgetting that we are to advise each other, support each other and also to RESPECT each other.

There are those that do not share the same lifestyle as us. Should we cast them away from our lives? NO! We embrace them and hope that they can follow in our ways. If they don't, it is only GOD that can judge them and not you.

I suggest that you focus on yourself and your family rather than being so concerned with others and ASSUMING you know people when you don't.

Amnesia..at least have some fear of Allah..do you think Muhammed (saw) would endorse this nonsense?

Or is it preferable for many Qataris to forget Islam (suffer from amnesia- pun intended) when it comes to pleasing the west?

we as muslims do not separate Islam from life...that is a christian thing!

when I saw it, I saw a flower.

Since you don't read arabic, you can't see the amazing design behind it because it's actually written text which says DOha in arabic but designed in such a way to look like a flower.

and to whomever brings religion into this GO AWAY!

The olympics is all about unity and competing in a non-violent and non-political way. This is all about friendship.

I hope we do win the bid, it'll bring development, force change, and bring a great atmosphere.

When it comes down to people complaining about 'naked women at the corniche'. DONT GO TO THOSE EVENTS, just as the people who go to those events will not go to yours!

Live in unity, not in division!

on one side we have naked performers and on the other we have a dress code coming out.

Looks as if the people in the GOVT dont know themselves what they actually want.

I didnt go to the event so I have no idea whether there were any nude entertainers or not.

Huh ? Naked women ? I was there yesterday, definitely didn't see a naked woman...and if there was, I would've seen all the men running in the same direction :P lol

I think, Doha's bid is the best.

- The logo was created by synergy of art students from different nationalities!

- The slogan is in the perfect timing

- The cause reflects right the target of Olympics - humanity

- Core purpose to unite by peaceful ways is unmistakeably strong

- Proven successful host of international sporting events is a foundation

- The cause to spearhead the special sporting event & facility for the physically-challenged people is just as another big PLUS

- The idea behind knowing where u r (geographically & economically), what uv been (clear past & history), and aspirations (future goals and amibtions) is just very striking

Bow.

the logo doesn't concern me...

why are some sections in the Qatar govt. hell bent on corrupting the nation i.e. making it western and then hiding behind slogans of heritage and culture and hypocritically Islam....what was Islamic about the naked performers at the corniche?

why was such depravity allowed?

Its a spring flower called Aldahma and the calligraphy strokes makeing the word doha 2016 are unique patterns of henna design its a dynamic interaction between Arabic calligraphy and English .... as per todays Gulf times

No offence but from which angle does it look like a flower to you.

Or do i need a new pair of glasses.

Other countries logos are much much more elegant and classy. They show something represent something.

Show Qatar's logo to anyone and he would be bewildered and ask you what is it. A blown up man? Some genetically mutated flower?

Hope Qatar sticks to this Logo till the end and use it with some modification for the next bid.

I guess everyone has different perceptions when it comes to art...there is no right or wrong.....as a design point of view, the composition is wrong, it's all over the place....that's all I'll say for now

Prague and Tokyo designs are breathtaking....wow...amnesia the rope means strength- it's stunning!!...

the flower is special because traditionally you give it a person to symbolize friendship.

What about rugby? They use the Rose for example.

As mentioned, all the other cities don't really have any sport related logo.

It's a smart logo, but I do agree that it would have been nicer if there was something more sports related.

If they loved the flower so much, it would be cool if it was like a sash with a flower print :P

it should be selected for the environment council.

Which sport has flowers involved?

On a serious note The logo was created by students at the Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUQ). Five Stars to VCUQ for coming up with such a GREAT LOGO.

Kindly ask them to design some logo that visualises sports or shows something related to sports. Could be an athlete, swimmer, or any thing.

Honestly guys this logo is more suitable for some flower or arts and crafts shop.

And hope some people dont take the attach personally. For God's sake it is directed at the logo not at someone

Look at the other logos of the other cities.

One's a block of buildings, one's a rope (which could be the finishing line), one's just text etc..

The logo in my opinion isn't amazing but it's very smart.

For those who don't read arabic, it says DOHA, but it's written in such a way to look like a flower.

Support the bid guys and bring a world of change to Qatar.

You can find the link to the bid on the official site.

I dont know what to say about the logo but surely it doesnt symbolize any sporty value. All i see is legs, more legs and some more legs. i am disappointed .

Website looks good except the font is unfriendly for a professional website. SHOULD NOT HAVE texture background, made the pages too busy.Too many poor quality pictures swimming in the website. Thumbs

down.

It INDEED is a flower, as is mentioned in the main post.
