Importing car from Saudi Arabia

By northandsouth •
Hello,
I will be moving to Doha from Saudi Arabia in November. I will be sending my 1 year-old car by cargo (container by sea). Does any of you have experience of doing something like this recently? Does the Qatari registration usually take a long time, and are there any special hurdles one should be aware of?
I have been searching the forum for previous posts on this, but was not able to find any.
Grateful for any advice on this matter
I am also planning the same @Gemei....Please tell me where from I can get the export certificate from here in KSA. Can I drive myself through the border. I will be having a ZIYARA visa for Qatar though I have signed a contract there. Shall I have to pay custom of 5% at the customs at the border. And do I need to go through MVPI here in Saudi...Please reply

I have brought My car to Qatar as well, so you need to
1. get export cerfificate from KSA
2. when you car arrived you will go thr custom clearance you will be paying custom fee 5% of the car value
3. then you will go thro the process of registering you car in your name in Qatar with Traffic Police Authority
Very old issue, but I m facing the same issue. can u give me the transporter's number n name?
Thanks. Someone told me the Qataris require a letter from the car agent stating that the car has been fully paid for. This letter should then be signed and stamped by the Chamber of Commerce, and ditto by the Qatari embassy/consulate in Saudi Arabia.
However, the cargo company is not aware of any such requirement.
Maybe this rule is when someone drives his car to Qatar and then wants to have it registered there.
I had a friend who move to Qatar from USA 2 years ago, he took his car with him in a container along with his furniture. He had no problems in shipping or registration.
Good luck.
