What happens during Eid?

Hi, can anyone tell me does everything close for Eid, does anything special go on in Doha?
What about restuarants/bars will they be open or still shut?
Thanks for any comments. Can anyone recommend anywhere in Qatar to go away to during this break. (Can't go abroad, as still waiting for residence visa)

Hi, I know EID holiday is coming, but could anyone tell me when is exactly the public holiday & how many days? I heard that it depends on moon's position (right?), but when will it be announced?

How many days of public holiday are there usually?

Also, what will be the next public holiday in Qatar after EID?

Thanks!

When you say carnivals I think of an area sectioned off in town that has small amusement park type rides, games, and food. Is that the same here?...It sounds like a good time to check out the corniche.

In Qatar this is what happens, people fast thruout the whole month and then they eat the lunch they missed out lol j/k. During eid the whole corniche will be decorated, there will be carnivals, people visit each other or gather up for lunch or dinner, its holiday time, alot of people take time out from their busy lives and go on 4 or 5 days holidays, alot of people go by car around the middle east. Eid is actually the time of the year when families meet up. It's similar to chirstmas except for the booze and it lasts 3 days :D. t_coffee, eid is not a big party and Ironman nothing happens at the beach, its all the same the usual weekends, people, land cruisers, beachs and drinks, thats all.

It's always the small things that make big differences.

t_coffee - what happens at the beach? Does everyone just hang out and party until morning or is there hotels down near the beach. I am new here by the way.
