Ok, I need help, I have a wasps nest the size of a basketball in the garden hanging off a tree.

Does anyone know how to get rid of them, or numbers who i can call to get someone round,

Don't bother with old wifes tales and daring stunts, there must be thousands of them and they are non too happy.

Thanks if you can help

Had one when I was in Bahrain.

It was about 10 years ago when I was 14. My father smoked it. Basically covered himself up, took a steel bucket, burnt some paper and dry leaves and left it under. Then went in and went out 1 hour later, wacked the hive and threw it in the bin.

Thanks for the answers, yes thye are probably Bees coming from the replies.

Pinky, when you have 3 kids flying all over the garden banging into anything and evrything, you would want to protect them, it's call maternal, look it up in the dictionary, as for the thousands i don't exagerate it's called an estimatation based on area , it's called maths, look it up in the dictionary

Well, the pest control man told me that wasps are very rare here. If they are bees, when they have finished whatever they are doing, they leave the nest in tact and then you get beautiful birds in your garden, they eat all the honey.

why don't you just leave them alone. you exagerate when you say 'thousands'. i've had so many of these nests in my garden. the bees do nothing to you. why do you want to disturb them? they will go away in their own good time. it's called 'nature'. look it up in the dictionary.

I think these are bees. They are very small here like the size of a flies.

They do not hurt and to my knowledge there is no such service here.

I know this sounds stupid, but are you sure they are wasps? I had a similar problem in my garden but when the pest control came they said they were honey bees and would fly away of their own accord, and they did, leaving a honeycomb behind. Good luck anyway, sorry can't be more help jj

I guess you aren't asking this from the UK, are you ...

Cos in the UK I would phone the local Environmental Health Office and they come and 'blow smokey stuff' at the nest and the wasps don't like it and go away. They never return to an old nest apparently.

In Doha? I guess there MUST be an Environmental Health Office which deals with pests (cockroach infestation and the like).

That's about all I can suggest. Perhaps someone tomorrow will have a better answer.

Good Luck!

bzzzzzzz :P
