I believe tha Qatari government set 'Aspire' up for their people. Have a look at this website :

http://www.aspire.qa/

There is a section for the girls / woman on that site.

Everyone so much for your comments, so very helpful! I am very interested in the experience of Qatari girls - can they too play sports at these clubs? Are they encouraged or discoruaged by their families? Are there any sports they cannot do because of customs and traditions, for example cycling?

Thank you so very much for your help - Novitta 77, you are extremely knowledgable, would you mind dropping me an email [email protected] so I can talk to you further in some more depth?

Many thanks!!

There are gym academy in DESS (Doha English Speaking School) run by Mrs.Innes ... Her number is 589 4428, the writing is not clear so if thats the wrong number you should call DESS and ask about the actual number. Here DESS number 487 0170

And 'Regatta Sailing Academy' down in Intercontinental Hotel ...

Tennis? Call the coach Srilath Perera on 441 8861 or 550 1182, last time i heard he teach in Al Ghazal club down in Ras Abou Aboud road (just near Marriot Hotel).

My son does Tae Kwon Do in Ramada ... majority are boys ... but there few girls too. Maybe you girls interested.

Ramada Hotel (Cabana's Club) do swimming lesson for adult and children.

There are running club call Hash House Harriers (i think you heard about it before) ... The contact number Phil York 582 0684 or 469 6204 They used to have 2 meets a week, one day for family with kids for fun run, and another day for serious run.

Also if your girls like a bit rough sport ... Doha Rugby Union FC gives training for children. Here is the site www.doharugbyfc.com or you can call 468 3771.

Hope this helps.

If you are asking what type of sports girls that age like, I can tell you the sports I played when I was young.

I loved gymnastics, softball, basketball, skiing, soccer, track, volleyball, and ice skating. I competed in all but ice skating and have the most wonderful memories participating in these sports.

Most of these sports are offered in Qatar for girls, but I don't know where you would look to find the clubs- maybe the school?

Good luck.

Lynnie, i dont want to start an argument. I tried to help her in what little way i can. I dont know the answer to what she has to know because - a) I have no kids, b) I dont have any reklatives here who has kids of her child's age.

But i tried to help her and have already initiated the proceedings. Yeah, its true that i just gave her 'immediate prospects', scroll back through the 14 previous comments and you will see that it was the FIRST comment which offered her SOME KIND of help.

again, i dont want to argue. the people to whom it is addressed has understood. I ask no more. And please do know that i dont blabber and also try to be as helpful to people as possible. Thank you and have a good nigtht!

Aint this great? The lady asks a genuiine question and 14 ciomments on it, all of them JUNK. Guys, if you dont know the answer or cant help her, why dont you go somewhere else and chat? i am sorry for the outburst, but seriously, it gives people a wrong impression.

I am sorry sister, but i really do not know of any places. however, i will get you in touch with someone who might be able to help you. Novita77 will be able to help you. I will also PM her. In the mean while, i believe there is a 'mom's group' on Qatar living. If you subscribe to it, you may be able to find a lot of answers in there.

Guys, i have a request. I have talked about this earlier also. KINDLY DO NOT FILL THREADS WITH INCONSEQUENTIAL STUFF. PEOPLE ASK FOR HELP HERE GENUINELY AND OTHER MEMBERS JUST DONT HAVE THE TIME TO GO THROUGH THE CRAP THAT GETS POSTED AS REPLY. Sorry for being rude, but sometimes, truth has to be told as it is...
