Hi ppl,
Do I need to make appointment to go for a gynae? I am going with my husband. But we don't know where to start. We stay in Abu Hamour area...

Anyone knows where or how to go about this? Thanks

Any health Centre, but the one I go to is Omar bin Kattab. See directions mentioned in post near the top.

however at the healthcentre I never paid anything. Even to have a pap smear done. Just go to the reception of the healthcentre and ask for an appointment with the gyno. (unless they changed the rules ofcourse. Have not been for 1 year)

Satria- In evening clinic? yes! they charge Qr100/visit (First visit or Follow up),even if you have Health Card.

Hi Jauntie- The doctors/especialist are also working with HMC, but they open an evening clinic and charge Qr100/visit for those who wants to get appointment in just a week:)

Day clinic will charge you Qr50/first visit and Qr30/follow uip visit, but you'll be lucky to get appointment within a month. See the difference?

lol your profile says you are male!!! Oh well, whatever ....

QR100 is only about £14 or so! Is that to see a Private Specialist?

If its an emergency case you can go to Emergency Hamad and the GP-doctor will give you referral to have appointment w/ the Gynae especialist at HMC. If its a minor case, you can go to the nearest Health Center where your name is registered and get the treatment but if your illness needs further medical investigations the Doctor at the Health Center will give you referral as well, to the Gynae especialist at HMC.

If you want to see a Gynae especialist without referral from any doctors you can take appointment within a week in the evening clinic at HMC though they charge Qr100/visit.

Kindly note this number for evening clinic appointment: 4392214

or you can visit them personally at the 3rd floor Outpatient Department-HMC.

Good luck!:)

Additional to Aisha's comment...dont forget to bring along a latest bill of electricity and water, they usually ask for it when you applied for health card for the first time. Also your passport copy should be with visa/iqama. Your Qatar ID copy is also accepted.

Good luck!:)

Ok I assume you have your health card. If not you go to the healthcentre with 2 pictures, passport copy and Qrs 100.- Apply & Register at a health centre. There is close to Mamoura. If you go from the traffic light at Mamaoura Complex straight down to the Cring road. At the first roundabout go left. There on the corner is the Omar bin Kattab health centre. They do have a gyno service there. Unless you have a serious problem, I would go there. They do pap smears, general test as well as a wellness clinic. You have to take an appointment though. It is good to go to the health centre and they will make a file for you. So that anytime you need a doctor your file will follow you. Hamad hospital is a real pain in the neck. Many hours of waiting. The health centres are much quicker and one usually only pays for the medication.

Sorry I do not know if there is an other health centre nearer to Abu Hamour. But the routine would be the same.

The wait is usually a lot less than Hamad.

Good luck
