4) This boy will be lucky to find a job in Qatar as:-

a) He is very young.

I'm not that young. I'm 22 years old & people my age have found overseas work

b) He has no teaching experience.

I run my own Animation class to Teach people how to animate. I have been doing this for two years

5) Spoon feeding someone through their paper work - how on earth will he survive "the cultural shock and not to

mention the living conditions", (taken from a thread on QL).

I can get my own Visa, I have a passport

6) Even if he would get a job, how will he pay his rent? How will he live? If he gets accommodation how will he

manage to survive? 17 years of age is not exactly o boy carrying any experience.

I have a $500 a week job & i have saved money for years

9) This was not a thread about his English

I couldn't care less if canarybird has a paranoid mind.

I'm from an ENGLISH speaking country that was a colony of an ENGLISH speaking country. My parents came from ENGLISH speaking countries. English is my first and only language

Nobody care if you hit the wrong keys on forum posting. If people complain about other peoples spelling, Well they are paranoid

10) As far as I read he was in the catering/hotel business perhaps it would be advisable for him to look for a job

in that field of scope as there are enough hotels here looking for staff.

Been a bartender for two years.

11) If you look at all his questions then you will understand how high his expectations my be, and undoubtably he

will be extremely disappointed if he only earns QR and has to pay rent and live.

Well i might as well forget working in Qatar since id earn more in OZ with tax than in Qatar without tax. Unless there is another income tax free country that pays people a higher wage

I just want to say that three points you make are not valid Canary.

If he's an expat and a teacher, he'll not end up with 4500 and be dumped looking for rent. Do you know of any expats that get than and nothing more? (Unless they're teaching for a public school or charitable cause)

And another point is, just because someone is related to one field, it doesn't mean that he can't do something else...

You say that expenses are paid by people who are badly needed and get paid high salaries. Could you please verify this?

Perhaps a teacher on this forum could let us know what they're making.

Really surprised me that this thread took off again.

1) I have no issues against Indians. (about me taken from a thread on QL).

2) I am not a Jerk just honest (Jerk name by Gypsy Gal on this thread).+

3) I do have issues about people who advertise parts of my profile on any thread (knoxcollege).

4) This boy will be lucky to find a job in Qatar as:-

a) He is very young.

b) He has no teaching experience.

c) There are many more experienced graduates in Qatar looking for English teaching jobs.

d) If there is an open teaching job and this can be filled by a Qatari - the law says take the Qatari first.

5) Spoon feeding someone through their paper work - how on earth will he survive "the cultural shock and not to

mention the living conditions", (taken from a thread on QL).

6) Even if he would get a job, how will he pay his rent? How will he live? If he gets accommodation how will he

manage to survive? 17 years of age is not exactly o boy carrying any experience.

7) PM is there with her big red(correcting pen) when many of her own comments are not written in proper English

( whatever that may be nowadays).

8) There is a great deal of information on this site already spoon feeding people through their Ministerial

problems, (not that I think this is wrong) but there is more than enough information on this site to help

anyone through paperwork from a-z if they take the time to read it. Where we do have many people

exchanging expriences on this site is more than useful although there are others who think this is

like a Morning Coffee Meeting)where no on important is reading and/or able to do anything to rectify situations.

9) This was not a thread about his English but the very fact of wanting to teach english here in Doha, he will

have to be a great deal better than he showed on his thread, because finally he will be teaching other

children/people here to speak and write English.

10) As far as I read he was in the catering/hotel business perhaps it would be advisable for him to look for a job

in that field of scope as there are enough hotels here looking for staff.

11) If you look at all his questions then you will understand how high his expectations my be, and undoubtably he

will be extremely disappointed if he only earns QR 4.500 and has to pay rent and live.

12) The usual expenses as you mentioned above are mainly paid to highly qualified and expereinced people who are

badly needed in Qatar.

This was, and still is my honest opinion and I think it is time to close the thread.

By amnesia• 28 Aug 2007 01:33

PM, I was going to point out that exact same thing.

It reminded me of when a friend of mine from Korea wanted to teach English at an institute in the UK and sent an email off which said.

"Your student can study English from me. Is there many? I can teach it".

Anyway,

martin, here are some answers (although already answered).

1) How do i gain permanent residence for work in Qatar?

You need to either get a job to handle the visa side for you (apply THEN get a visa), OR get a sponsor.

I suggest coming on a tourist visa, search for a job, then go back and wait for a response.

2) If i get a job, does my manager pay for some of my expenses?

A manager? No. But the company or institute itself? yes. The usual expenses paid include accommodation allowance, transport allowance, furniture, insurance, medical, dental, and some even include education or clothing.

3) Is there many English Teaching jobs in Qatar?

Yes there are many, but there are also many that wish to teach. I checked your profile and you are under 18, so I think that could give you some issues since the youngest teach I've ever met was 23. (but that's just due to the fact that he was the youngest qualified.)

your steps are:

1. find a job over the Internet Job posts on different sites, like www.Bayt.com, Gulf-Times Classified, etc.

2. Only after getting a Job offer you will be able to obtain your Working Visa first, and later, when you are here, your Residence Permit through your Company (which will be your sponsor).

Or you can come here as a visitor and try to find a job from here, but as it has been mentioned this way is more expensive for you and the offered packages are usually less than if you apply from overseas.

USA, Britain, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Netherlands, Belgium, Luxemburg, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Portugal, Ireland, Greece, Finland, Spain, Monaco, The Vatican, Iceland, Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein, Brunei, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and South Korea.

You can only reside in Qatar if you have a residence permit and without a job you will not obtain a residence permit.

I think (others will correct me if I am wrong) that Ozzies can get a visit visa at the airport on arrival.

Well what Visa do i need to live & work permanently in Qatar?

There are permanent residents in my country that work as well as residing in Australia.

There is no Qatar Embassy/Consulate in Australia the only Gulf countries with diplomats in Canberra are: Kuwait, Iran, Iraq & Saudi Arabia. So i don't think any of them could issue me a Qatar Visa

Residence permit is obtained by your employer

If you get a job you will be offered a contract giving the details. Some companies offer more benefits than others (and of course different salary scales).

There are English teaching jobs in Qatar but also many teachers.

You just call your club the Colt-Knox-Clan it sounds actually quite good.

Just one thing on a last note, I am not offended by your comments, quite the opposite it delights me to have seen something moving here today.

It was interesting to see what happened and to see how things were motivated, however, I will not accept anything used or published from my profile on any thread this is private and only normally available to members so I will follow knoxcollege for presenting a part of my profile publically here and be sure I will do it.
