How to boil one pint of water

KellysHeroes
By KellysHeroes

Good Day everybody.

This community is becoming boring and a waste of time due to the extensive questions and topics shown here which have been discussed many many times before.

Other questions are becoming so "naiive" to the extent I find it like asking somebody "What is the recipe and instructions to boil one pint of water?"

Those who are contributing positively to the community are wasting their time answering some repetitive questions and this might result in missing/skipping some important questions and topics.

People are becoming very lazy to search and opt to ask any question they might wonder about without bothering to do some self-effort to find the answer prior to posting here.

Personally I feel we are becoming like a "hot line", "call center", "180", "999", brokerage office, public relations agency, you name it.

I wonder how would you find your way if you travelled some 20 years ago when the internet and all the related facilities were not there?

I have to agree with you Kelly.. although there used to be some interesting stuff here it's all very repetitive now and the same few people want to be the matriarch or patriarch of the site. The scary part is that there are numerous people that will actually use all of the advice here because they think it is 100% true. I have noticed lately that some of the regulars are now cutting and pasting from the web and attempting to make themselves appear as if they are now an expert in sociology or physchology. It's amazing how fast they have mastered the English language over the past couple of months lol. As long as no one gets hurt or tricked I guess this is what forums are for. It certainly does make some interesting and entertaining reading and there are some nice people here.

Dude

I am a very poor Afghan who has no money and no job. I dont even have a home country. The americans have invaded my country. First it was the russians, now the americans. How can you accuse me of harbouring suoeriority complex when I am living in a cave in Tora Bora and waiting for the flight to Guantanmo.

Kellyhereos..What r u on about?????

You state you are merely supporting your opinion???? SO am I

What does "devil's advocate have to do with anything? I dont agree with you, others do..simple! You dont have to like my opinion but you dont have to behave like a "toddler and spit the dummy" and get personal....

Your comments:

nadt insists on her point of view that an Egyptian guy posts inside the "Lebanese community" here looking for a wife for his friend. And later he says that he is not looking specifically for a Lebanese wife. What a funny logic and way of approaching things. Wonder why that guy did not start a new thread about that. AND one of the most important rules here is that this not a dating site.

What does the above have to do with anything? ANd if you practice what you preach and read my comments properly instead of the first few line..you would see we told this guy that this isnt a dating site, to look elsewhere....?????So im not sure what ur point is and to be honest i dont really care...Grow up and learn to accept that "thank god" not everyone thinks like you and they are allowed to have an opinion without being accused of showing off!!Seriously grow up....

Unfortanely, some think they are smart if they disagree with others and have a distinguished comment.

This is not a place to show off.

I have been supporting my point of view of my thread. PERIOD.

But some think they have to debate and argue all the time. Thinking they are very important to defeat their point of view.

nadt and knox are good examples for that.

I am not ready to argue with those who srgure for the sake or argueing and behave like the "lawyer of the devil".

we all like to post and read. I was putting my 'oldies but goodies' in the forum headed 'funnies' - but then I realised most didn't bother to look there and people were placing the jokes on this forum. So I put them here and left a shadow forwarding to 'funnies'

I did that because I reckoned the 'funnies' (could have been 'cooking' or 'visas' or whatever) forum was there to keep THIS forum clear for general stuff.

Bit like the hunt for parsley lol

Kelly - you won't live that down hee hee. I will invite you to a Tabbouleh party when I get back, ok?

here is I agree with Kelly, most are becoming so lazy to browse the whole thread and they just signing in without getting themselves aware on what's already on it!

Cheers!

What about those people who try to get an attention saying that people are sending them PM that someone wants to be friendly with them etc? they also post the same thing again and again! As if someone really cares! Lots of people PM me too! but I never bother to talk about it! Not all PM I received has bad intentions anyway! I think your problem here or elsewhere is that you dont like it when people dont agree with you....that is my opinion..take it or leave it...next u will be starting a thread on how people should respond or think...

Think your problem is you don't read completely the topic. Here or elsewere. I have the feeling that you read few lines or keywords and start your comments based on that.

Kellyhereos..thats the beauty of technology and advancement...just because these facilties were available 20-30 years ago doesnt mean we still have to live like that...years ago you had to send a horse and carriage to send a message to someone..these day we email people all around the world instantly...does tat mean i go back to the old method and ditch my computer

some are becoming lazy enough to do any effort to survive. This is least to be said.

Wonder how such people manage to survive had they been here or anywhere in the world 20 or 30 years ago when internet was not available, let aside media and satellite.

By nadt• 11 Aug 2007 17:58
nadt

it would seem to me

that if you are savvy enough to get to this forum you would also be savvy enough to use the SEARCH FUNCTION! LOL!

did you see the query posted in my pornography thread about finding an "Arebic" [sic} center? That is the perfect example of the kind of silly helplessness you see here.

PM..your a regular on Ql and ur obviously savvy enough to use the search function so can u imagine someone who is totally new to her...I still dont see what the problem is..yes its a good idea to search but even if its a Q repeated...so what...maybe there will be new input from someone who hasnt contributed to the old thread...i jsut dont see what the big deal is...

By jauntie• 11 Aug 2007 17:55
jauntie

asking why ask the Q in that thread, but I couldn't see where it was asked!!! I wouldn't be able to completely delete a post I made ....

Maybe I didn't look properly - but I've never been able to do other than edit myself out. (some say I should more often! hee hee)

By nadt• 11 Aug 2007 17:40

Kellyhereos..I dont see what the problem is...its a public forum...why cant people ask Questions...is that what QL is about? New people dont know their way around these forums and if they need to know something urgently whats wrong with it, some people like to just chat socially others like to help answer queries repetitive or not...paresly might be silly to u but to others its important...

You can always just not answer the questions...theirs heaps of forum topics to choose from...

Thank for at least not hijacking the thread so far :D

And for the valuable input. Know we should be serious all the time and we should "season" the place here.

Juantie. Long time no thee and sank you for za 2 penneth.

I admit that not all are the same in terms knowlodge, methodology and technical capability. We are here exposed to pals from all over the world and all ages so we should be prepared to expect anything.

Generally speeking. Once we visit the site, we see mainly recent classifieds, recent topics and recent comments. Filling the windows with unnecessary things might and will hide some important topcs. Many times I came across very vital and important questions with ZERO response.

Guantie. One should not be surprised to be asked about spirits shop. But wonder if anybody asked about the locatin of red light district. LOL.

Stay tuned. To be continued

That is my favorite shop of all Doha!

You could send me a text message. I'm more than willing to help both of you navigate around Doha.

I travel by land marks and map references.

I Still have issues in remembering their street names.

One thing for sure all roads lead to the Airport area. One way or another.

It also happens to me, tried many times to ask people to find things places etc. and they say "Mafi Englishi" still kept trying to ask other people and nobody seem to know where things are, really! Buying a map is one thing but for example when we first wanted to know where is the booze shop is! Nobody seems to know it! One of my husband's colleague searches where the booze shop.

one place they went she got pissed asking and shouted at the guy and say where is the booze shop? alcohol shop? beer I want to buy beer! she said darn nobody understand me and nobody knows where things are here! the guy replies to her "Madam I assumed your completely lost! I'm sorry I can't be a big help to you as you are in an Islamic premises! Arrggghhh!!! after all the shouting! she felt melting!

and all :o)

I think I have to agree with you Kelly.

a) I found qatarliving BEFORE I came to Doha because I wanted to find out about sports clubs. I 'googled' and up came a thread from a year back in QL. On further investigation I discovered QL had various 'serious' forums where questions about just about anything to do with living in Qatar could be answered.

b) Although I have never had a problem finding 'parsley' ;o) I certainly wouldn't start a thread to ask where to buy it! However, I think there is a shopping forum here, so maybe if I was desperate I would ask there.

c) Having been off line for about 10 days I wandered into QL last night to see what interesting threads and discussion had occurred in this forum whilst I had been away. To be honest I wondered why I come in here at ALL!!!! (the company, of course). But ...it was a bit like reading a cross between a Teen Magazine and Old News items.

I think the problem is that people don't look in the right forums for the answers or don't use the search box on the site. Those options make more sense and would also make it easier to 'search' for stuff since the subject matter would be under the one forum topic.

Phew! Well, that's my 2 penneth until I return to Doha on Monday *S*

Show them love and truth even If hurts their feelings or yours.

Don't forget to give them a GPS to navigate in QL.

If that don't work, just give them a magnetic compass and tell them to follow the arrow--->^

We are here to support each other and to be of help whenever possible and make our life easier.

What's happening might lead some to loose interest in replying and again missing to answer some vital and important questions.

I understand that somebody relocating here from abraod would need some local info and opinion. But I cannot understand or digest or stand somebody here asking where to pay a taffic violation ticket or QTEL bill or where from to buy parsley.

Exchanging ideas and opinions is good specially that we are all here in the same boat and there are many things in common between us. Also the cyber space gives us the freedom and comfort to express ourselves the way we like whether we agree or disagree on whatever.

God bless you all.

As for me, am trying to keep away from the 'out of school blues' which ave' been suffering since deciding to take a gap year...keeping my mind of things...using the net to drug myself..talking with people making it feel like they are beside me...

The thing is, not all members have been here in this forum for a long time some of them are new and don't know where things are and how to browse etc. You cannot expect them to know where to go and how to do this. that's why they are asking how and where? You obviously been here for long that's why you think it's boring! try to be more optimistic and be helpful for people who are lost and still trying to find their way, it would be very helpful! You'll see they'll be very thankful of you rather than getting annoyed with them. :-)
