its obvious from the moment you step your foot in the entrance. Rubbish decoration, no concept, no fantasy, ugly furniture. Definitely not a 5 star hotel.

May the roof above us never fall in, and may the friends below never fall out!

I guess it depends on who takes Luncheon Vouchers ;o)

Beyond the bar, the hotel is kind of run down and not that nice. They need a major renovation.

gotta see for myself (it's how I am)

oh Oryx! Dear old 'party planner Cynthia Payne' - that's going back a bit. She held her 'parties' in Crystal Palace, just up the road from where I used to live. Just found this on BBC site:

"Mrs Payne first hit the headlines in 1978 when police raided her home to find a sex party in full swing, attended by middle-aged and elderly men exchanging luncheon vouchers for sexual entertainment.

Mrs Payne, 53, said: "This is a victory for common sense. But I have to admit all this has put me off having parties for a bit."

on prostitution in Qatar on QL recently. http://www.qatarliving.com/node/24642 The discussion was partly around the blind eyes the authorities turn to places like Oasis when they loose no time to storm into a bedroom and and arrest an "illegal" couple who might have been together for years.

Don't you think that everywhere in the world the whole system around prostitution is filthy and corrupt.

Like Gypsy mentioned on this thread above, prostitution should be legalised. Then the prostitutes wouldn't need "protection" from dirty pimps with contacts among influential people to avoid being arrested.

Anciulo buddy, sorry for the highjack. I am off your thread! I will compensate maybe with a drink at Oasis! lol

at oasis, and their work,I have no moralistic mind attitude, just not my lifestyle, so thanks cyman for the warning, I'll choose other place then

OK cyman sorry i shouldnt' have called you grumpy

fair enough its the pimps - it is another good reason to legalise prostitution to cut out the scum that feeds off the misery of others.

thanks for clarifying that for anicullo - he sounds like a nice guy... SuperXpat made it sound like a Butlins holiday camp :)

jauntie do you remember Cynthia Payne and the Luncheon voucher scandal?

Now that lady ran really good brothels and looked after her girls - that is how prostitution should be organised.

have you seen how a teacher is treated in the UK?

i'd prefer to be a freelance lapdancer than a supply teacher

to my understanding the place stinks. It's not a place for me and you to go and have a drink. I just tried to make my buddy anciulo aware.

Now if you want my idea about prostitution it's not much different from yours. I appreciate what you feel for these women but my anger and disgust is targeted towards the dirty pimps. You probably know that prostitutes everywhere get a small fraction of what they earn.

Btw, seems you have not seen how the lap dancers from eastern Europe are treated in our civilised west. If you knew, you wouldn't want to swap places.

I pretend I did not see the "grumpy" word :)

you still a bachelor? hmmmm and still not on my 'waiting buddy list eh' ? muhahahahaha

Oryx! You make me DIE larfin' 'ere!!!! hahahaha

If I could just see my old Rev. Ma lap dancing instead of teaching - oh my ... Mind you, Sister Ann Marie did an exceptionally good Charlston ;)

I heard oasis as a place in alternative to the bar at ramada or ridges but for a different kind of gathering, not this "catch"

By Oryx• 25 Jul 2007 18:33

harsh words!

these girls have to make a living.

it could of been me or your daughter or your sister if we had been born in different countries....to poor families where education of women is not valued

filthy is associated with dirt - they aren't dirt

they possibly just dont have a choice

there for the grace of god... i always think when I see a prostitute...and i am very grateful from whence i came

anyway i further be a lap dancer than a teacher in the UK

you get more respect and better pay

is the filthiest place I have seen in Doha. I am talking about the dozens of the chinese prostitutes who line up early every night waiting for their "catch". Is it them you are after buddy?

I think ''batchelor'' non-members are no longer allowed in Oasis, at least in the weekends!

Its swimming pool is clean, its gym and its squash centre are cheap and cheerful (the gym has quite a large number of equipment though), membership costs about 1/3 of that in a 5* hotel.

I think there's also a martial arts' instructor there.

It's right next door to the new Sharq Village hotel, up past Doha Port. It has a pool, gym and small beach which non-residents can use for a small fee. Much cheaper then using the Intercon, and also allows non-members to use it on weekends, which most of the more swanky places do not. Its only 3-star, so not as plush as other hotels like Four Seasons and Intercon, but nice and friendly, and much cheaper! Hope that helps.

This is a hotel close to the mariott. If you come from the Mariott back to town, you will see after the round a bout firt the Sailing club and then the Oasis.
