If you can help... on Life After Termination...

I am new to Qatar. My company has terminated my contract. They have no objection if I am getting another offer within Qatar. However they say the NOC is not something they can give me in writing now – they would give an NOC on the request of new employer. Is this how it works? Further,
I have about 2 months time on hand to find another job. There are two options:
1. Stay in Qatar and try within Qatar – there is no certainty that a job will happen within two months.
2. Go back to home country – that gives opportunity to take on interviews for other GCC countries. However in that case I have to take an exit and my present company would have my RP cancelled. Then if I get an offer in Qatar, how things will work out? Will they work out? Help requested.
I really need to take a wise decision with inputs from QL friends because my family too is with me in Qatar with children in the age group 12 to 16. I have excellent track record in my home country – this was my first assignment outside.
Thanks in advance….
Sorry to hear about your job. This happened to us as well, although for some reason they waited until after we got back from our summer vacation- then said since you were not here an entire year you weren't elegible for a summer trip. Of course they didn't care that they encouraged their employees to take the vacation in August when things were quiet and all the necessary people had signed the approval for us to go-- but that's an other story, sorry...
Anyway, now it's 1 1/2 years later, my husband is with his second job here... So we can give some advice I think.
Yes, the no-objection letter goes to your new company. You don't need it until you have a new job. We tried endlessly to get one before we had a job offer, but no luck. But once we had a new contract in hand, we got it no problem.
It's up to you whether or not to leave Qatar. My recommendation is though, that if you want to work here, you should stay put. It's hard to say what would happen if your RP was canceled and you were out of the country. They could impose the 2-year ban on you. You don't want to try to explain yourself when you arrive again in Doha. But if you are here, you kind of have "squatter's rights". So, if you want to stay, try to stay put as long as possible.
Hope that helps a bit. I see you are an engineer, our new company is always looking for new engineers (depending on what kind you are). Send me your CV via private message and if you are a good fit, I'll pass it on.
