If you do not have the original HP drivers CD then I would not recommend you to format your harddrive... because after you reinstall your XP.. you need to get the right drivers for your sound/graphics/WIFI etc.. so if you do not have this on you then do not downgrade... jus wait and hope that Vista Service Packs are out soon.. I hear that by the end of september the first service pack will be available...
uh. that would be too long to wait to have a better vista OS. If im going to reformat my new laptop and install the xp pro OS will the programs run properly and will the DVD drive will work too? I have an HP 1.8 and 1GB ram and 160GB hard disk.there are no drivers or installers except for the recovery manager that i have saved from the hard disk.
Vista still does not have proper drivers for most 3rd party peripherals...
I would strongly suggest all to forego the upgrade to Vista.. by the time Vista is ready, the next big MS o/s will be out.. and this is definitely a jump from the previous ones.. its codenamed viena and should hit the shelves by the end of 2009

installed nero 2 days ago on my vista os and its working fine.....mybe u ought to dloa the latest version of nero....
is your vista a Beta RC version or the full version. The latest NERO is compatible with vista... http://www.nero.com/nero7/ena/index.html
but some ppl still have issues with Nero.. in which case get download the ROXIO suite which is 100% compatible..
I still recommend downgrading from Vista to XP, wait for the first srvice pack to be released and then re-upgrade to Vista...
