Accommodation or cheap hotels

Hi guys

I'm new to this forum and would just like to know if there are any cheap hotels that or other such accommodation.

I'm coming over there in a few months for about 5 days. Have been wanting to for a while but cant really afford to pay $400 Aud a night for accom.

Is there anywhere else to stay or can you just turn up and get accom there or rent a small apartment for 5 days. I would even consider a reciprocal arrangement where myself and my partner stay with someone and then they can stay with me in Australia...actually thats not a bad idea

Any help would be appreciated
