Pediatric Opthalmologist in Doha, Qatar
My family is considering moving to Doha from Canada. Our 3-year-old son has a treatable eye condition. He goes to a hospital here and is tested by a pediatric opthalmologist. When his eyesight changes, his eyeglass prescription is adjusted.
Is there a pediatric opthamologist at any of the hospitals in Doha?
Is it difficult to get an appointment? Is it difficult to purchase glasses? Thanks for your help and advice.
Magrabi Medical Center
They moved in d ring rd tel number 44238888
check it out there new facilities very clean and with valet parking.
Haven't yet been there but apparently they have a great paed called Dr. Attiya who has been recommended to me by quite a few people, if you can't get to see Dr Attiya the others are apparently also really good. I am heading straight there the moment one of my kids get sick. Hospital has also come very highly recommended. Get yourself a Marhaba book from the Carrefour - it is on the map in Wadi Al Sail. Can't tell u anything else, sorry!
Regarding Al Ahli Hospital- Is it in Madinat Khalifa? Any body have any more with pediatric clinic of Al Ahli. Because recently I shifted to Madinat Khalifa. Can anybody have idea about pediatric doctors, emergency cell, treatment and consutltation fee.
Thank you very much for your help. It's a relief to know my son's eye problem can be treated if/when we move.
Hi there,
You could consult Dr. Fahed Al-Khathani. He's good and more over he's the only Dr other than Dr Amanullah who has the prisms etc to measure the readings. I was consulting him for my son's eye problem.
He practises near the Doha Clinic Hospital, Opposite Nokia, 1st Floor.
lamea, its better to get a QP doctor referral, then you can take the referral and go to the evening clinic at hamad hospital, its on the 4th floor..the doctor is available on sundays, tuesdays and thursdays. not sure about the thursdays and you can get an appointment within the week. 6-8pm.
the doctor i take my daughter to is Dr. Mohammad Amanullah, he is a Pakistani, :-) and he is masha'allah very good.
happy heart

Whats the procedure for QP employees? i want to get my daughters eyes fully checked.i do have a medical card but should i first get a referral from a QP physician? what was the name of the specialist u visit at Hamad?
u know i really had bad experiences when it comes to pediatric care in Hamad hospital... better you got to al ahli hospital although its a bit expensive but surely the service the nurses and the doctors are good..thats where i bring my 2 kids..
Hamad Hospital has a one, you can get an appointment easily enough if you go to the evening clinic. I think its on the 4th floor of the out patients dept.
Also Al Ahli hospital has a Specialist that come every 2 weeks from Dubai. You would need to go there to make an appointment.
Just take complete medical records with you, I find the doctors here are to quick to prescribe glasses to infants and small children when they may not be needed.
mickeydee,i take my baby to a pedeatric opthalmologist at hamad general hospital.
he is very good, however i am not sure how you can get an appointment at the hospital without a referral.
for hamad, you need to have your healthcard.the doctor has evening clinics too. i have been following up with this doctor since my baby was 5 days old.alhamdullilah all is well.
when you are here, you can Pm me, i can give you the contact person at the opthalmology dept of the hospital, they may be able to help you get an appointment.
purchasing glasses isnt an issue here.
but, like e46 stated, do get all the medical records of your child.

mickeydee, I'm not aware of specialist pediatric ophthalmologists practising in Doha. There are several ophthalmologists at various private clinics and hospitals and seeing one is not a problem.
You will, of course, bring the medical history with you.
Purchasing glasses is easy.
Good luck.
