Interior Ministry starts new servicePublished: Monday, 7 May, 2007, 08:49 AM Doha Time

THE Ministry of Interior yesterday introduced a new service “for better interaction with the public”.
The service, known in Arabic as ‘Adeed’, consists of four channels of communication through which any person can contact the ministry to report any untoward incident or anything unusual happening in one’s surroundings.
The information conveyed shall be treated as confidential and will not entail any legal responsibility on the part of the informant, an official said.
The four channels of communication shall be available 24 hours a day. They are: phone: 4947888; fax: 4255888; e-mail: [email protected]; short message service (SMS): 2994.
The ministry said that crime in any society could not be controlled without the co-operation and support from the public.
“It is hoped that in the ongoing large-scale economic and urban development in Qatar, this new service will serve as an effective bridge for communication with the public and help in safeguarding the traditional nature of the Qatari society,” a release from the ministry said.

C4, maybe it's better to use both channels? At least in the beginning? If people call the local police station and don't use these new processes, then they will think that the new service isn't important, isn't in demand, and they won't devote the appropriate resources to it, or improve it.

This has been an ongoing initiative...the problem has been follow-through and response times. This is a good venue, but it's better to call the local police station until the processes referenced become better.

It's almost better for communities to start advocacy groups and "Neighborhood Watch Programs", similar to what occurs in the US, to work as liaisons with the local police, which helps deter crime and capture those who have perpetrated.

I believe that this is the time for everyone living in Qatar has to participate protecting the peaceful and nice environment we are living in.

I also pray not to face any trouble or serious crime here
