QBS Radio
What is the deal with this radio station...? It is some of the worst radio I've ever heard. There is the occasional good song but overall, it's a mess.
I say this, not only from a listeners point of view, but from spending more than 12 years working at a number of radio stations in Canada.
Overall, it sounds a lot like a high school or college station. Maybe that's the charm, I don't know.
Most of the problems can be fixed with a bit of guidance and work. It's too bad, really. This town could really use some good radio.

Well the call letters are quite telling!
This morning I woke to QBS at 6.20, playing Spanish Flamenco music with the dancing and stamping !!!!
Then UB40 - Baby come back, that was played again at 7.25 !
Followed by a Celine Dion Cover !
Morning shows are all about waking the listener up, lively banter and music. Instead Boring Bernie sends me back to sleep. Yes I know Fruit and Vegetables are good for you ! No I don't want to know you have a pop up for a free meal at Chilis.......Whats next Bernie ? Going to start reading your shopping list to us ?
That's the frustrating part; it can be fixed. Radio isn't rocket science. I know because otherwise radio people couldn't do it.
I like radio...sorry...I like good radio. It really wouldn't take too much to make QBS into good radio...considering it's so easy to make it better already...turn down the volume.

no more radio for me, i have my 80 GB of ipod, and it is a god send.
QBS ... supposed to be english station but half of the time in french. Go and figure !
I always listen to Radio sawa 92.6 and Radio montecarlo 93.4

U should try getting a DVD player installed its the best... lets u kill time when ur stuck in traffic for ages..at least u can watch some music vid's :) gotta watch out while driving though....
Yeah, ... I don't listen to the Radio unless I forget my iPod [it is dead now] or my 'Creative Zen M Vision'. The quality of the sound is not that good as well as the same songs are playing with a -Loop option. They should make their songs classification more specific. Just like 1 hour for the Metal Show, 1 hour for Rock, 1 hour for Pop and so on ... I don't like to listen to everything there, so this way everyone would know when it is going to be his favorite hour and open the Radio, listen to it. Te current way, most of the people are switching off, .. sorry they forget about what do other people call Radio.
They already thought of that and have police on the gate. They also search the car when you go in.

I've considered dropping by to chat with the general manager. With a little gentle guidance, (and some random beatings), they could be made to sound a lot better...they can't sound much worse, I'm sad to say.
They used to be behind the TV station on TV roundabout.
I understand that the need for QBS has been discussed. Don't know if that included the television too.
Maybe you could call them and offer your services... time permitting... I'm sure someone on here would have the nbr or address...
The news readers sound like they are anxious teenagers reading something in front of class!
I don't even know where they are...probably hiding out behind some big walls...lest they get stormed by the mp3less masses...evil fiends...
ha ha ,,,yea!! this jingle has been with QBS ever since i can remember..... long long ago when Gina Coleman used to read the news!
Radio, what radio. Ever since coming here it's been CDs in the car.
Oh yeh... and not to miss the "You're in the gulf... QBS radiooo"... lol!!! they need a makeover... Joe, maybe you could lend some of your expertise to them...
I know it is not my radio as I have heard it on different stereos, a constant ticking sound out of the righthand channel?
Wish the weather was clearer - 106.5 is pretty good, as are the FM modulators...
My guess is QBS has a secret deal with mp3 player companies... so ppl get sick of listening to QBS and dash out to buy the first mp3 player in sight!!!!!! at least thats wot i did!! Hail Ipod!!
