QP Refuses

Greetings guys,

I have received my entry visa to work for QP but I was told that QP wont send me a soft copy of the offical offer letter. QP expects me to resign my current job, fly to Qatar and then only will I have a look at my offer letter.

During the interview in Malaysia, QP HR guy mentioned verbally the package that I am offered a job at QP, Ras Laffan Grade 13 (Basic -11k & other allowances (traveling, accom, etc) - 10k)

Details on the supplementary housing & transport allowance are not indicated in the exparts handbook and I am not sure if these will be provided.

Pls advice if anyone has info on QP salary grades.

Thanks a lot guys.

Hi

Please enlighten me on the ways the agents can be playful.

My thoughts is unless the job seekers pay a fee to the agency, the job seeker should not have much to lose.

What does the agency gain from luring the job seeker to Qatar before securing a job? Unless the tactic is to get the job seeker there, and try to 'market and sell' him/her at a lower than market rate and close the deal to get the commission?

Thank you.

Hello everyone,

Just wondering if anybody here knows anything about QP accommodation in Dukhan.. My husband got an offer from QP, and he'll be based in Dukhan. It is clearly stated in his offer letter that he'll be provided accommodation once it is ready. Until then, he'll be getting QR6,500 as a housing assistance.

Thanks in advance

Greetings,

Thanks for your comments and I really feel much better about the offer. I have actually resigned my current job and have indicated 1st week of June 07 as my mobilization date. Awaiting for the ticket from QP.

Hope things will fall in place.

Thanks yet again.

Regards,

Dear Friend,

QP is very careful in the matters of appointment in the interest of the candidate. They give a offer letter at your location itself if the interview is successful. In that leter itself they state that u shd not resign until they advise. U agree to the terms and then they move application for visa. U are advise not to resign so that in the event QP does not get visa for any reason, it shd not happen that u lose ur existing job. Once the visa is made available, they normally advise the recruitment agency to mobilize u. They do not give any letter (soft copy or hard copy) of appointment as this was already given at the interview selection. It is their system. QP cannot change their recrtuitment system just because one of the candidates want a letter in writing. On arrival, the documents are processed, medical formalities / finger printing, etc will be organized.

u need not have doubts about items 5 & 6, these are paid. item 6 is paid if u are located outside doha like ras laffan or dukhan etc.

No need to hesitate in case u choose to move to qatar. Every one who joined QP would have undergone this piquant feeling.

I have no info on salary grades or levels.

Having said the above, it is your choice to move to qatar or work in QP, etc.

Regards

Natarajan

Greetings Serendipity.....

Actually, I have a copy of the offer letter that I signed and submitted to QP. The problem with that offer letter are as follows:

a. It looked like a draft copy. There were blank spaces for salary & allowance which was filled up by QP HR guy. Thats the reason I am requesting for the official offer letter.

b. Furthermore, the supplementary allowances eg transport & housing were not stated as there were no columns allocated for them.

Thats the reason I keep insisting I need to see the official offer letter. Thanks for your info and I hope you are understand my predicament.

Am I right in guessing that (a) you *did* in fact receive an offer letter, which you signed and returned, but (b) you failed to make and retain a copy of it?

In which case, all your comments about them refusing to give you an offer letter are a bit harsh, in my opinion.

Yes, they may have made a bit of an administrative mistake by not leaving a copy with you in Malaysia, but you also made a mistake by letting them take the original document and not ensuring that you took and kept a copy.

If you now realise that you need a copy of the document you have signed (so that you can resign from your current job, safe in the knowledge that you have written proof of your new job offer), then instead of blaming QP, I think you should admit *your mistake*, tell QP that you didn't take and keep a copy, and that you should have done, because you now realise you need a copy of it, and that you would very much appreciate it if they would fax a copy to you or email a scanned in version of the original you signed.

I think if what I'm guessing occurred is in fact what happened, then admitting your mistake in not making sure you kept a copy and asking for one is probably the best way forward.

Best regards and good luck in your new job!

Deva_dablo,

FYI, most Malaysians who work for QP are either Senior Geologists or Senior Petroleum Engineers. They sit on Grade 18, earning Basic Salary of At Least QAR 25,000/ month.

I really appreciate your inputs..... I havent resigned my current job and am trying to get a soft copy of the offer letter. As far negotiating any increase in salary, the QP HR guy, who interviewed me, said that this is their best offer in line with Grade 13 scheme. Hoping for the best.....

This is the normal procedure in QP. Original offer letter you will get only when you are here. Have you accepted your offer? If not ask them to amend the offer to include all those points. Once the entry Visa is processed you Job is confirmed provided you pass the Medical fitness test. Location allowance you will get it if you are working outside Doha. But am not sure about the supp. transport allowance.

You should never quit a current job without a fully executed contract in-hand from the new employer. Soft copy is OK as long as it is signed by QP, then you get the original on arrival.

QP should NOT be asking you to resign BEFORE sending this to you. That's plain unprofessional.

You're really contradicting yourself deva_dablo, so I reckon it's impossible for people to advise you clearly.

One minute you say:

"My interview was conducted by QP through a recruitment agency in Malaysia and the agent tells me QP wont give me the offer letter till I get there."

i.e. this implies that you were *not* interviewed by QP personnel, and you did *not* receive a copy of the offer letter

But then you later say:

"Actually, I was interviewed by QP HR in Malaysia and was given a draft offer letter (3 pages) to sign and confirm my acceptance of the offer."

Which is it?

Were you interviewed by QP personnel in Malaysia? Or not? Were you just interviewed by the agency staff?

The two situations are very, very different; an agency might say that they will put you forward for a job, they will recommend you for a job, but you haven't got the job unless the employer confirms it.

And then you say that they won't give you the offer letter. But then say that you were given the draft offer letter to sign.

So, again, which is it? Make your mind up!!

You were interviewed by QP staff/you weren't interviewed by QP staff.

You were given an offer letter/you weren't given an offer.

You're totally contradicting yourself dude!

Until you make you mind up what exactly happened and what your situation is and tell people here with accuracy what your situation, then no one is going to be able to advise you about anything.

Greetings Guys,

Thanks for the info.

Actually, I was interviewed by QP HR in Malaysia and was given a draft offer letter (3 pages) to sign and confirm my acceptance of the offer. After which, I did my medical checkup and the report was sent to QP. I received my entry visa last week and an email requesting me to resign my job and confirm my mobilization date.

At this point, I asked my recruitment agency (which did all the liaison work with QP) to obtain a softcopy of the offer letter but was yold that I will be given it upon arrival at Doha. Pls advice guys... can I get in touch with QP HR to clarify this matter???

Thanks for your input.

M&E manager............

try to get more then QR 11K........i presume you have school going kids...the school fee is expansive....

QAR 10,000 for house/tpt is barely enough to have the same level of standard as u r in malaysia (a simple apt + a camry)

school fee + household + food for a family can half your salary unless u want to downgrade your living std...

unless u see the offer letter.....otherwise....

Are you Malaysians? why dont u contact some malaysians working with QP. You can do so by joining the malaysian association (MAQ) mailing list. Search Yahoo! group for MAQ.

I dont think QP will deal like that??? they will formally hire you (with the all the necessary documents and working visa)

of course how come, you will accept the job without signing any doucments which you can use as a proof that QP is the one really hiring you??

Dont come if you dont have the offer letter from QP and the contract of course stating your benefits and blah.. blah.. otherwise, you will end up as a loser...

Sometimes agency are playing.. so be careful!

Deva_dablo,

Welcome to the World of QP ! I'm surprised to learn that you've finally decided to come here.

The entry visa you got with you is a Single Entry Visa which allows you to enter State of Qatar. Please don't confuse yourself by saying "entry visa to work for QP" as getting the entry visa and being accepted to work for QP are TOTALLY two separate things.

I think you better get and sign your offer letter before coming here....is it possible you've been cheated by the Agency ??

Dear sa-japie....

My interview was conducted by QP through a recruitment agency in Malaysia and the agent tells me QP wont give me the offer letter till I get there. I dont have any HR contacts in QP to get details. Do you think you can assist me??

Contact QP HR Department and ask them to send you your "Offer of Employment" electronically. You should have received it along with the letter telling you to resign and the Visa. Reply directly to the person who sent you the correspondence.
