Moving to Qatar

Hi,

I've been reading some posts on renting and living in Qatar and they're really useful (mainly from Ayman).

My hubby and I have been living for 2 years in Dubai, and are now moving to Qatar in 1 month. So I was wondering whether there are 2 bedroom villas in compounds, with amenities, for around 7500. Or would we be better off in an appartment? Are there appartments with terrace / gardens in front of them? Also, some posts mentioned sea view appts... are these expensive?

Thanks :)

Yes I guess you're right... If there's any reason we want to leave Dubai it's the fake environment.

Forgive my ignorance, but how do I get your email through your profile? As it seems to be hidden.

Cheers

Don't be thad sad, cheer up.

At least here you don't get the feeling of a fake environment and all the bling bling that you do in Dubai.

Anyways, drop me a line on my email (via my profile) and we can talk further bout details of living in Doha!

Cheers

I would suggest you forget the view part of the appartment.

You can get a nice 2 bedromm appartment for 7500-8000 QR, but none with a NICE VIEW!

For a view, you want to go towards the corniche and so on, to the high rising bldgs, and then, u need to go above 11000-12000 for it!

I suggest you come and get a 2 bedroom apt in a new or semi-new bldg and just settle in!

Hi All. I received some vague infor that needs pursuing hence, please help.

1. Is there another community/residential area outside of Al Khor. Don't really want to be in Doha to travel to Ras Laffan everyday. What's the name of the area and any description of the place.

2. One email forwarded to me mentions 17 new schools opening this year but will be close to September before it is confirmed. Does anyone have any advance infor on this? My 2 boys 8 and 6 and myself will follow my husband (already in Qatar) only if we can confirm the boys schooling. As of now online, we only get negative replies from the current schools.

Thanks and cheers.

Hi there!

I can honestly tell you that the cheapest villa will be 10000 QR.

As for an appartment with amneties, u can get one for almost the same price or a bit more even.

SO no, living cost is higher than Dubai!

Cheers

i don't like in Qatar yet but from the research i have done on this site, i don't think you will get much for 7500, certainly not a villa.

at best, that's close to the bottom range for a 2 bedroom apartment.

there are plenty of posts about this subject from people who are already there (in the cost of living forum i think)
