Relocation to Dubai...

So I'm considering a move to Dubai in the summer, but need some advice, I tried finding a Dubai version of Qatar Living but couldn't find one as easy as this to navigate... does anyone know realistically how much it costs to rent a decent place there? Like a 2 bedroom nice apartment? And how much could I expect to earn as a British Graphic designer? I also heard you need to pay for the whole years rent upfront, would the company pay this for you? Any advice would be great, thanks

Dubai, in common with Qatar, has astranomical rents. Paying a year up front for rent is normal.

Some of the companies (but not all) offer a loan in order for you to comply with that rule.

If you are working for a government or semi-government organisation, I am certain that the loan is available.

Should you leave the company within 12 months with an outstanding balance on the loan, you will have to repay that outstanding balance immediately.

I am unsure of the going rate for a graphic designer but any offer is likely to be on the low side. Dubai is not known as a great payer. This is caused predominantly by the availability of cheaper manpower from the sub-continent.

Another trend in the UAE is to withdraw the car loan facility in favour of paying the interest on any bank loan that you take out to purchase a vehicle.

Dubai has changed a lot of late and is not unlike a giant builder's yard.

Good luck
