 Hi,

I would highly appreciate your advice  I’m Lebanese living in Jeddah .K.S.A,  married, 6 years old daughter, recently my husband got a job offer in Doha as acting GM for a well known  Restaurant chain Co. The only reason we are hesitating to take this decision is that we have no clue about neither life in Qatar nor Salary ranges there

Therefore I would like to ask whether our offer is fair enough , whole package as follows 7000:4 salary, family health insurance class A , housing, family ticket twice per year, car,

One more ques my daughter is in French school, is it good there??? how much it cost per year????

 Thanking you in advance

As I know 1 USD=3.65 QAR & SAR.

Some men would stare at women; thus, covering might protect you.

i experienced the life in jeddah, riyadh and now in qatar. relatively to ksa, doha is excellent. people are so friendly, more freedom, but it is by far more expensive than ksa.

so u have to insure:

1- school

2- acceptable accomodation

and be sure, ur life will be better.

earning will be lesser. but ur life quality better.

no need to be covered, u can act same as in lebanon.

good luck

If you get schooling for your daughter (it is a nightmare nowadays to get admission specially in smaller classes) and a job for yourself, dont think anymore. Cross the border and come right over.

It is better to bring your stuff from there if it is in good condition and if you are planning to get an unfurnished accommodation.

Here in KSA it’s a living hell if you’re outside compound

I figured from you’re replies it worth taking from here furniture, car

and to negotiate on schooling

Plus I work in 5 stars Hotel which have Braches in Doha, I can ask a transfer

Which will add our income?

It is a very wide range.

Do you want furnished or semifurnished or unfurnished?

Do you want 2 bed or 3 bed?

Furnished 2 bed appts start from 7500 and can do upto 15000.

Villa is also a very wide range. from 12000 upto sky is the limit.

But for budgetary purpose, I think you should consider around 10000 for rent and utilities (elect & water)

You can download the classifieds as PDF files. This will give you a good idea.

Try and get the company to organise the school for your daughter. These can be difficult to get in to.

I have one more quest

How much is the price range for Standard apartments / Villa’s per month in compound and outside

It is not required for you to cover.

7000$ is more than enough to live comfortably and still save a few bucks.

However, you savings may be less than you have in KSA but it also depends on your life style.

Please explain do I have to cover myself in Qatar??? I heard NO

and is 7000$ plus the rest of the package allow us to live a descent life

Or else how much more shall we negotiate on

Toyota is famous in Qatar. Transportation is still growing. There are lots of traffic problems. Wear seat belts, have children seats, drive in the middle lane, avoid being fast, be an early person, ( and maybe get a four wheel drive car because most of cars are four wheel drive).

SAR equals QAR. Housing without furniture outside compounds might cost you QAR 10,000 per month. Car might cost you QAR 75,000. Its insurance might cost QAR 2500. Gas might cost QAR 1000 per month. Be aware that females need to cover themselves here, too.

Drinking is not okay here, too.

Only if you want to change your life style, then you may move. As you would be aware, qatar is much more open than saudi. Savings may be slightly less here since cost of living in qatar is much more than ksa.

There are plenty of Lebanese here and they seem to like it. If the accomodation is good then it is a good offer.

It is a good offer but it depends how much you are earning/saving in KSA.
